If budget is not issue then get the Bravia 7. It is Mini LED with 480 dimming zones. X90L only 88 zones at least for the 65”.

Having said that the X90L is still a capable TV. 700+ nits full field SDR brightness, 1000+ nits HDR brightness.

It is plenty bright for watching SDR and HDR contents.

You can always refer to rtings.com for reliable numbers.

Bravia 7 does have a lot of dimming zones compares to X90L, really a lot.

According to what you mentioned, X90L is capable TV where 700+ nits for SDR brightness and 1000++ for HDR and it's plenty bright, Bravia 7 would be much higher, i wonder if i will find it too bright in long run, i also read that some users were lowering the brightness but at the same time losing details.

It's already 2025, imo I just can't justify paying that amount for an 88 zones TV. Just to give you an idea, my 2020 X90H already has 32 zones. So 88 zones for a 2023 model TV is not very much of an upgrade apart from the higher brightness. Plus you want to take into consideration of software updates lifespan of the older model tv.

FALD LED or MiniLED are not OLED. You will never get perfect black with either so minimal blooming is part of it. If you want a picture quality that does not desaturate at an angle, then only OLED is your choice. But since you listed these 2 VA panel TVs only, I would still go for Bravia 7 simply because the lighting transition seems better with more effective black suppression based on rtings. Also with LD on, the contrast ratio is twice as much as the X90L.

No TV is ever too bright, that's my opinion tongue.gif . It will tone map better be it SDR or HDR. For X90L, say you half the brightness to say 350 nits it is still very bright considering most SDR contents are around 100-150nits max. So, I don't think you will be losing much of details. For HDR, black crush (low luminance details) normally happens more often OLED.

Also need to consider which TV you are coming from and the dynamic of your viewing environment. If you previously own say a 1080p TV, either TV will be massive upgrade for your case. rclxms.gif

watching the tvs in the showroom and own home are 2 different experiences due to the environments and guess i won't regret getting the new model even the older one is still good.

I'll go to the showroom and rewatch again before deciding and hopefully they let me switch since i've paid for the X90L with promo price.

Ask the salesperson to turn off retail/store mode. Play some actual 4K HDR movies on Bravia 7 with picture mode set to "professional", color temp set to "expert 2" and see if you still like it. Brightness should be max for HDR.

I don't want to sway your decision too much but honestly speaking with your budget RM5.8k +/- Rm3K top up, you could have gotten 65" Samsung S90D QD-OLED at Rm7-8k range during one of those X.X sales. But then hindsight is always 20/20. sweat.gif
