Good day to you.

I'm going to move to an 1100sqft apartment maybe 2 months from now, not sure how big is the living room per sqft, most probably about 500sqft to 600sqft with L shape including kitchen i assume.

After months of studies, i will go for Sony X90L for TV, for audio, i'll go for soundbar with sub and rears mostly for movies, i'm no audiophile and yes i know book shelf speakers and real theatre system are far better no questions, but wife doesn't like them due to bulkiness, aesthetics & wires management.

So at the end, wife only approved soundbar so guessed that's the only way to go to enjoy not fully Atmos but still a condition which is much better than TV speakers.

I have read a lot and shortlisted Samsung Q990D and JBL bar 1000, some people like Samsung and some people like JBL bar and that's normal, depends on their needs, i know there are no soundbars that are best in movies and musics except if you go for higher tier like Sonos, my budget is about RM4-RM5k so Sonos is out of the question.

For movies, Samsung Q990D seems a better choice due to clarity and cripse voice for movies but a lot of comments were saying the bass is bad they can't feel anything or it's lacking, but some have different opinions so it's little confuse for me, so would love to ask the experiences of Q990D owner, is the bass lacking or it's sufficient but not very punchy?

Actually i did go for sound test for both but due to the environment (big areas + crowds) so i can't really tell.

I'm totally new in audio since it's my 1st time buying TV and Sound System and what i wrote was not totally correct.

It would be so great if owners could share their experiences and hopefully i will be on the right path

Thanks in advanced and much appreciated.

Got my 990C more than a year already, so far great setup, the surround sound feels great movie and gaming. Bass can be control. But since my house also condo so need to lower d level. To me great purchased since can sync with my samsung Q95b. Contemplate between HT-A7000, almost  change my mind.

Hello there and thanks for your feedback

It's a good sharing, 990C & 990D are similir, just that i can't find 990C already on shopee,

also it's good to know that the bass is not really lacking and yes, staying in high rise, audio and bass cannot be too loud else there will definitely be complaints. HT-A7000 is a good set, just the price is on the high side.

Thanks

You're totally correct, Sonos is great.

If i'm getting Q990D, it's about Rm4k to RM5k, but if i'm going for Sonos, it's about RM7k including rears, yes correct, add another 2k can get Sonos as attached photos, but can't do, extra 2k can use to buy another electrical appliance like fridge or washing machine as i'm movng, but definitely a good suggestion.

Many Thanks

Hello there, Initially looking for yamaha true x40 & x50, went to harvey norman to test out and sales person said they no longer carry yamaha as yamaha audio is exiting malaysia market, cannot test then they recommend me samsung q990d & jbl bar 500 to 1300 depending on budgets, didn't know soundbar with sub and surround can be expensive.

^ those who recommend Sonos Beam have no idea

Beam Gen 2 + Sub Mini is not gonna match Q990D sound, its the 'budget' offering from Sonos..... the equivalent competitor from Sonos is Arc Ultra which way beyond the budget of Q990D anyway. You're paying more for less (in terms of SQ).... unless you really like and want to get into the Sonos ecosystem

Hi there, yes correct, what you mentioned were all right, i've read a lot from reddit and they were all saying the same thing. Samsung Q990D is a very good bundle as a whole package wheres Sonos is on a higher tier for the whole package, just depends on what you want, i went for testing, Samsung Q990D was nice, voices were clear and easy to hear, bass was less but that's depends on the source, JBL Bar 1000 is much more punchy, i feel it's a little too boomy to my liking if i'm watching movie at condo, will receive complaints from neighbours, not sure if it's just me, sounds clarity seems slight off, seems muffled, but that just what i heard, different peoples might have different experiences.

For the budget , you honestly don't have any better option if you are going for minimalist designs .
The soundbar is very premium , very heavy with excellent build quality.

The bass is punchy , packs with a lot of OOMPH that much you can be sure.

My only QQ is the metalic surface can use a matte coating , in a dark room pairing with very bright TV , the reflection is slightly distracting.
Sony's Theatre Quad ( with a bass module ) is probably better but it costs 300%-400% more.
If you have a Samsung TV , Q-Symphony + Soundfit is just incredible.

I'm currently still reading about soundbars and thanks for you input regarding this soundbar, if i ever get this soundbar, i think i need to lower down everything, too powerful. lol
