QUOTE(gashout @ Feb 24 2025, 01:17 PM) I have an old AC, the casing is now yellow - is it a sign to change AC? or do I just service them? Do you have a validity when to change AC? Thanks. If daily usage is less than 3 hours, then just keep it. If more than 8 hours can consider replacement as you can recoup ac cost with electricity savings.

QUOTE(SmnLmn @ Feb 25 2025, 12:26 PM) ehh really? new ac really help electricity savings so much ka Depends on your usage la.. and how you use them. A/C only give max savings when you have temp set at 25~26C. My room A/C 8 hours daily (longer if weekend) consume about 80kwh while my son room also 8 hours daily consume about 60kwh (his room is slightly smaller). One is LG 1hp and another is Samsung 1hp. Also this comparison is only valid for older vs newer refrigerant A/C aka R410a vs R32. I think comparison between older R32 vs newer R32 A/C would yield slightly less savings.

QUOTE(SmnLmn @ Feb 25 2025, 03:21 PM) mine one room is 1hp. non inverter, i think min 5 to 6 years ago d (or more) usually after service, i can on 23c with 1fan and its good for me, and i on it for like 12 hours or more a day. got another air corn but probably on only 3-4 hours a day but both air corn few months after service, surely i need to slowly drop from 23c to 18 or 16c, then slowly from 1fan to 3fan. my bill almost rm300 ler, besides this, i think the most high electric usage is coway d. Bro, If you are the type who want ice cool A/C, then inverter will not do a thing. Still you would still benefit from the power saving that was introduced with newer tech. If your old A/C still had the energy rating sticker, you can check the KWH rating. Some older 1hp (Im using my mom 1hp panasonic inverter A/C from 8 years ago) even with 5 stars consume almost 1500watts per hour versus newer 5 stars A/C which is also 5 stars but rated to use about 800watts per hour (my samsung 1hp windfree).

QUOTE(SmnLmn @ Feb 26 2025, 11:04 AM) that means 1hr at full power would consume almost 2.46kwh
