Copilot says got Kechubong Helmet and Lamina. I guess the Lamina is from the word Laminate? Can't seem to be able to find picture. I guess back then the Malay land was more peaceful. Even in old Malay period movies that I have watched, I never see heavily armored warrior character.

Because : 1. Lack of iron ore for materials and imports are crazy expensive 2. Lack of technique to smelt iron 3. Lack of outward military ambition so no motivation to solve both above conundrum 4. Lack of wealth to aspire to #3

civilization is slow. most of them are very outdated during ancient time. still use crooked dagger to fight when people have long sword. that is also the reason why british bring indian come ezy conquer, japan come also easy. you can also say god protected them very long until penjajah come, their combat ability are not being tested. thats why their fighting style silat is more towards arts than actual combat practicability. very spiritual techinique.
when british bring gun come, they see silat style slow mo, they are laughing so much until give face to them. imagine crooked dagger pull out also that so long time, bulet already bypass their brain.
someone please make ai about silat vs gun clip must be hilarious.
most of your fighting will be on or near water. you can spend a lot on armour but if your ship gets hit, youre going to reach the bottom of the sea before the ship does.

Yup,
Swamps, mangrove, tropical rainforest with dense undergrowth.. Wanna wear heavy armour to fight? Gila.
Actually the answer to why we never hard metal or leather armour is because these materials never reached this part of the world before trade started. If there was metal done in trades, it was most likely used to make purposeful products like nails that could build house and boats. And used to make knives and probably machete for working on food and processing jungle produce. It is stupid to think armour was the first use when metal is a valuable commodity for food, shelter and probably weapons. I do not think metal spear heads ever made publicly available to the people besides the royalty that used it for guards because they could afford them.
