AceCombat reporting in!!!

Today is a good day for me,so decided to do some hardware review.

Because it's quite late already,so i decided to make something easier and faster one,and it is: Southbridge RAID review!!!

well,i reviewed 3 chipset which is Intel ICH8R and ICH9R and nVidia MCP55P.

OS and Application:
Genuine Windows XP SP2
Simpli Software HDTach 3.0.1.0
for better result,i run each of them for 5 times,then i'll print screen teh best bench.

so,here we go,the first run:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Intel ICH8R RAID 0 with Western Digital Raptor 10k RPM 74.3GB
Test rig:
Intel Q6600 GO @ 3.0GHz
Asus P5K-Deluxe
Crucial 10th Anniversary 2*1GB @ 800MHz 4-4-3-8
WD Raptor 74.3GB 8M RAID 0
Forsa nVidia 8800GTS 640MB
well,this can be said that is a useless review but it's a great information for those who doubt,"what's the different between ICH8R and ICH9R and how about if compare intel chipset to nvidia chipset?"
Anyway,Intel graph form "W' shape while nVidia form "----" shape.
hope this help u guys,enjoy reading!!!! thumbup.gif
feel free to post ur comment here.
from those chart Intel perform better then nvidia chipset, intel ICH8R just use bout 1% cpu power that very good....
Intel ICH8R vs ICH9 very lil gab performance... as usual nvidia need to improve their chipset...
is that a software raid or hardware based raid?
I thought it should be considered hardware based since it involes the chipset ?
Would different rig setup make any difference to the end results? Shouldn't the rigs be as similar as possible e.g. 2 rigs are quad and one rig is using E6600.
Wah Ace, retire from the OC world now venturing into the reviewing world huh? smile.gif
even though nvidia has more consistence throughput, intel has higher average throughput abt 10% more...in addition to bursting more here and there to 140MBps peak
and surprisingly 0.8ms faster too on intel.. hmmm..
I think that the TS should use something more suitable like IPEAK SPT or IOMETER to really test the drive's ability to deliver on IO.
It tests both by using multiple loads and queues to simulate server loading, giving IOPS as the final figure. To see whether it's a controller limitation, just test the HDD across multiple controller and if the number is stable just move on to the controller.
Ipeak SPT can run under any program, as it sits in the OS's stack and just gives you the IOPS that a program generates, thereby you can run generally any program to benchmark the HDD, as Ipeak will just record it's IOPS.
try www.storagereview.com
download their IOmeter test file
then go to http://www.iometer.org/
download the W32 installer program and then execute the test.
I'll post some extras on it later.
