Can anyone with Poco M5 running HypeOS (Android 14) help check what is the latest Google Play System Update on your phone? Mine seem to be stuck with the Nov 2024 update with no new updates available. My Poco M3 already Jan 2025.

Not sure if anyone can help you ever since this forum block new user registration, users become lesser & lesser.

Why not you call Xiaomi SC, Poco is under Xiaomi right

if you dont tell me, i also memory leak forum blocking new user registrations. Last i heard was like over a year ago.

Didn't call them because Google claims they control the update. I don't know if phone vendor needs to approve the update first or not. Over the same reason, my cap palang Android 10 also stuck at 2023's update although websearch says there are updates all the way until 2024 Dec.

Your Fon still got warranty or not, if got no harm going Xiaomi center & ask them help you

No more. Without knowing, time flied. 1.5 years already.

If no warranty tricky cos official Center usually charges a fee. Better you bring outside Fon shop & ask for advice

after 1 year if they still update for you, consider very good already

Google claims their update is forever. It means, until they say no more.

I'm referring to Google Play System Update, not the Poco firmware. If not forever, at least until the end of Android 14.

If the Fon is still running fine why did you decide to update it ? From what I know the Google Play System does not affect the overall Fon stability or issues. Why you want to update it ? Really curious myself

haha. i only buy new phones when banks force me to. Mere software update cannot lah

Google Play System Updates could be security or new features. I update for security reasons. I dont use phones to browse much, i should be mostly safe even if i dont get to update. PC guy here.

The not so secret way of getting the latest update in every thing is by buying a new Fon bro

From my experience of owning Xiaomi Fon the update is very slow & many months apart. Not instantaneous like my Oppo

That is the firmware, not Google update. Google update is monthly.

For my Oppo as long as everything works I'm not bother with Google Update. Just scan the virus update once a while

that's the problem with android kan, you will never know the 3rd party phone company will update any patches for you after certain time, when you buy android system, you are bind to that :X

Nonono. Google Play Update is managed by Google. Whether vendor permission required to patch, i dont know.

But since your Fon is fine, why you want to update it, usually Google Play update whether latest or not does not interfere with other apps functions

Those not updated to latest system update don't have latest Play Store and Play Services version.

So, you got your Android System Update, this is provided by your phone maker, like Xiaomi for example

they have their own version number, and usually this brings Security Patches and also new features/android version

Then, you have Google Play System Update
Not to be confused with Play Store App

This is part of Google Project Mainline

Google is tired of OEMs being slow to push updates, so a part of it is controlled by them and they can push the updates

This can bring new features/fixes
(but also break apps, latest Jan update breaks some modded apps)

Lastly, you have your play store app and it's own updates

The most important thing is all apps are working perfectly without worrying that there's a bug or issues. I'm not even sure if my Google Play update is latest or not

and dont simply click any apk installation and ads on fb is more important :X

if ts really want everything updated, should have bought flaghip most expensive model or google pixel, conlanfirm got update from time to time, else switch to ios :X

For APK I only trust APKPURE the rest I'm not so sure

TS is a cheapskate who wants everything updated without paying an exorbitant price for a flagship phone.

Don't worry too much laa. Hackers won't be so free to target your Fon unless you simply install APK inside

ApkMirror is fine too, those 2 are the ones I use personally

When I need older versions of sn app, I will download the APK from APKPure, so far all well. No virus or hacked. Is APK mirror safe too ?

my default go to is ApkMirror, it's run by the news site "AndroidPolice", they're safe
