Why? So many ppl say mesh only u say powerline
*
1. cheaper (because you're in a longhouse, i assume you'll need a few units and can cover more dead spots)
2. more reliable (provided your existing electrical wiring is done properly)
3. less wireless congestion

the best way is still try to borrow powerline/mesh from friend and test it out first. Powerline will be more effective if you have tons of walls

Actually it's a long shophouse

Got lots of partitions

I realize , if stand in corridor at the end of the shophouse the signal not bad

But if u go to the room at the end , because the signal has to go thru multiple partitions then its bad

Powerline or mesh which one won't create a new network ?

You already said sohai contractor put router in front.

All you need to do now move the router to the middle icon_idea.gif

how thick are your partitions?

mesh is the one won't create new network. Whether or not that works the best, that is another question

cannot, if move to middle then have to buy super long cable and then need to find way to hide the cable

When you say cable, what type of cable? In front the cable is hidden? Can use optical cable run along the ceiling to BTU.

Those cheap repeater only echo the signal from the main router.

So ur wifi range maybe extended, but quality/speed really crap.

U really pay for what u get.

I have no exp with powerline solution. But the latency and range cannot be as good as typical cat6 cable.

If you have mesh, make sure the backhaul is wired. Makes hell of a difference in speed.

ive tried and tested all 3

powerline = fast, but could be unstable, highly reliant and dependent on your home electrical wiring 2 phase/3 phase. cheap and fast or completely unusable. only one result.

wifi extender = slow and unreliable. my room 300 Mbps, the wifi extender area only get 4 Mbps. cheap

mesh = good. it's like having few routers at home. can be expensive.

Something about mesh to consider:

From fiber optic it goes into modem (as most people called it), then to WiFi router where it has 2, 4 or even 8 antennas. I guess you setup the modem and the router are located next to each other.

The WiFi signal at the other end is weak, so you get low speed. If you put another router with mesh capability here at weak signal location and connect the routers wirelessly, the the speed will not get faster even though the second router has strong signal. The maximum speed would be link speed between the two routers. If you have cable connection between the two routers, the speed would be the speed you get at the modem. So, the closer you move the second router to the first router, the speed will get faster and faster. smile.gif

You mentioned that to pull long cable to the second router it looks messy. My suggestion is to pull the cable up to ceiling at modem, run along the ceiling and go down to the middle of the house and place the router there. My earlier suggestion was to get an extension fiber optic cable, connect to the existing fiber optic cable and run it along the ceiling like I mentioned before but this time put both the modem and router together in the middle of the house. The optic cable is very small and hardly visible biggrin.gif

SPEND SOME MONEY for a better router.

like I said before

many ppl very kiamsiap when it comes to good router but can pay expensive monthly subscription for the internet

this, I cannot brain.

it is like paying ron 100 for kancil 660

those telco supplied router are just plain sucks

get the mid tier router from asus, tp-link is better, bigger ram that can handle bigger traffic, better soc. yes bandwidth is way more important than the latest router available in the market

for example

AX73 5400
under rm500

TP-LINK AX 73 AX5400

OR

if u guys on budget, can consider TP-Link Archer AX53 RM only 215.70 now

Cheap TP-LINK AX53 AX3000 RM215.70
