Nanli pointed out that the police seized 217 imitation watches (98% simulation), 46 forged customs documents and 22 mobile phones used in the raid, and froze 14 bank accounts and 3 properties involved in the case.
Johor Chief Police Chief Kumar revealed that the group adopted the "family kidnapping" model to operate - the tuition fees and family medical expenses of the members' children were all withdrawn from the proceeds of the fraud. The main culprit Chen Hao even transferred RM28 million of stolen money to overseas wallets on the pretext of investing in Bitcoin.
The president of the Malaysian Watch and Clock Merchants Association, Du Wenjie, denounced that this case severely damaged the reputation of the industry, and the rhetoric such as "fake watch chips can pass the counter verification" caused panic among consumers. The six people involved in the case have been charged under Article 420 of the Criminal Law for fraud, with a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. The case will be heard in the Johor High Court in August.
