Hi all

How difficult is it to claim the deceased fund in EPF if you're the nominee?

I've seen a list of 10+ documents to produce and honestly speaking, it's not easy to get those fund.

Appreciate if anyone who has experienced it can share some experience.

Thanks.

If for non Muslim, it was fairly easy. These is the document to get ready. Most important no.1

Copy of the deceased's death certificate
Copy of the applicant's identification documents
Copy of the applicant's birth certificate
Bank account details of the deceased
Proof of relationship between the applicant and the deceased

Been there done that. Very easy for non muslim.

Death cert
Nominee IC
Proof of relationship (birth cert/marriage cert)
Nominee bank acc statement

Just bring those to EPF counter and do thumbprint. Money masuk bank in about a week.

I believe it's the one listed on KWSP website.

1. Form KWSP 9KM (AHL) and checklist -> should be able to get from front counter
2. Copy of identification documents with original for verification
3. Copy of applicant's birth certificate with original for verification (if required)
4. Member's death certificate or nominee's death certificate (if nominee has passed away)
5. Member's birth certificate (if member is unmarried) or marriage certificate (if member is married) or member's divorce certificate/ proof of relation to applicant (if member is divorced)
6. Bank account details (savings account statement/ current account statement/ verification letter of account holder's details from bank/ estate account of the deceased - under deceased's name)
7. Declaration of marriage letter (if member is a Non-Muslim married before 1 March 1982)
8. Power of attorney (official letter issued by the courts/ legal institutions/ Amanah Raya Berhad (ARB)) -> this is if you have grant of probate or something similar
9. Recipient's declaration of responsibility (Muslims - Appendix A)
10. Recipient's declaration of responsibility (Non-Muslims - Appendix B)

I can't quite remember the documents needed, but ya, quite easy. Just bring along the deceased certificates/documents that was pass to you.
The counter will look at the documents and tell you which to photocopy and fill up, same day can gaotim.

Side track a bit.

Any info, if there is a time bar for nominees to make claim after a kswp member's death?

even if you nominate someone, the person is just a trustee of the fund and not the full recepient.

so question to otai, to ensure that the nominee gets the full amount, do we need to make a formal letter and get it duty stampped?

Went thru process, it's straightforward. Just bring death cert, your own identity docs & personal bank account statement (stamped by bank)

Tumpang tanya....if the specified nominee is the child, why is there still a need to provide copy of the birth cert to proof the relationship ?
