Hi everyone,

Just checking—has anyone tried using the Maxis router (Huawei LG8245X6 Router, WiFi 6 EasyMesh) as an Access Point?

The reason I’m asking is that I’m switching service providers to UNIFI.

I currently have two unused Maxis routers (previously, one was used as a router, and the other as a mesh).

I’m considering using one unit as an Access Point and the other as a mesh connected to the AP.

I’ve tried logging in and adjusting the settings, but I’m unsure how to configure it.

You will need access to settings, and follow these steps (it usually works):
1) Configure the router you want as AP
2) Set a valid IP address within the same range as your main Unifi router
3) Assign a different SSID to the AP
4) Place the AP at a different location from the main router
5) Run a network cable from a port on main router to a port on the AP. You can use powerline adapters for this purpose. This is to give the AP an internet connection.
6) You will not have the roaming of a mesh, so you will have to change SSID on your device to connect to the AP

Otherwise, I am unsure if Maxis routers will work on Unifi without some major hardware tweaks.

Maxis provided router have a 2nd layer userID & password to access the full settings.

If u don't have access to that, not sure u'll be able to toggle the settings for what you seek to achieve.

The "admin" login usually can be found under the router, there is a sticker with something like username: admin, password: @dm[MAC].... something similar.

Have a look and give it a try.

Cheers... cool2.gif
