Each LCD/ LED Panel have life span around range 30k ~60k hours.

So you try calculate how many hour you would spend on TV per day. Then you decide want to buy insurance or not. Based on that to judge will be much easier.

Yes ,this is about the reliability of the TV itself. shit does happened.
From the TV build up, the most expensive is the TV panel. Second expensive item will be main board. Others like Light Control, service centre charge at around RM300~400 for replacement. The Signal board for Remote control hard to broken so dont worry.

If your tv expensive, just buy for peace of mind. Only Rm 450ish per year warranty, not bad what. Don’t think so much. Just enjoy the tv.

If your tv around 3k, then no need as better to buy new tv. Tv is already an electronic which will drop price accordingly to time. If money matters more, get a cheaper tv for better peace of mind.

2. why spend so much money on a panasonic tv? panasonic make great aircon/ water heater/ fridge and other appliances but their tvs are meh. if you are putting big money on a tv, buy a sony la.

This Mini-led had good review on screen quality, good contender to X90L which is not mini LED from Sony except the Panasonic is without Google TV.

I get this basically because I got insider deal which ended somewhat cheaper than Sony X90L

Also a bit ironic is Panasonic do have better reputation of being more durable, but this extended warranty is still attractive especially the 1 to 1 exchange and unlimited claim. For the part of wear n tear I need check in T&C.

TV price close to 6k
Warranty extension to 5 years RM1370 from Panasonic, it is a bundle offer, originally RM1950

Your 3 years extra warranty is 23% of the cost of the TV. To me it is too expensive and I will not buy the TV at all.
If you are buying a mid or high end TV, 5 years warranty is a must coz basically all tvs have issues nowadays and you want to get the longest warranty possible which is usually 5 years max.
The extra warranty should only be around 10% - 15% of the cost of the tv. If you buy from Sony store their extended warranty is even cheaper.

Many here who only buy cheap tvs will tell you to just throw away and buy another tv if rosak after 2 years. Some will give you examples of their 200 year old tv still going strong. The reality is that tvs are not as reliable as they used to be and issues / failures are a common occurrence. Either get 5 years warranty or just buy a cheap tv instead.

Panasonic tvs are some of the best but not much exposure because not sold in USA where most reviews come from.

The warranty price is because it is based on RRP of the TV which is around 9k, and the <6k is an insider deal.. I saw online this model min 7.5k

But I hear you on the buy new when broken, I did considering this as well.

Can try to nego or buy warranty insurance outside. I believe there are some companies providing this service.
This is a common tactic where even when the product is discounted, the warranty is still based on RRP which makes it not worth getting.

Where are you buying this by the way? Do you know how much they are selling the 75" MX950?

Originally the extended warranty cost about RM1955, because of some bundle promo they offering RM1370 unsure.gif
I bought from relative who sells Panasonic appliances, sorry not convenient to disclose here on details, that's also why I did not specify the exact price of it...

a bit out of topic, how much of a decision to buy a TV involved in Display quality VS the OS build in like Google TV?

Say example for me the main determinator 80% comes from display performance and 20% depends on OS built in the TV

Because to me I think OS is replaceable with TV box so we might not need to care so much about build in OS? Please correct me, I might miss out some important factor sweat.gif
