Procrastination and Mental Health

Everyone procrastinates occasionally; we delay our tasks because we just don’t feel like it, or maybe something else which was important came up. Nevertheless, some of us may be experiencing severe effects of procrastination, whether consistently failing to perform accordingly at school or work, not meeting required standards in relationships, or perhaps suffer from worsened self-esteem and mood from failing to complete tasks for too long.

In this episode, clinical psychologists Audrey Lee and Alvin Tan discusses the topic on procrastination in depth, offering insights on how it is related to our mental health and what we can do about them.

Where and how to access mental healthcare in Malaysia?

Many Malaysians are unaware of where to seek mental health services. Generally, services by mental health professionals could be received via the public health sector or through booking a consultation with a private practitioner.

In this episode, Pearl and Alvin, both clinical psychologists from People Psychological Solutions, discuss these options in depth:

Behavioral Addictions – When Habits Become Harmful

Many of us spend hours scrolling social media, gaming, or shopping online—but when does a routine activity cross the line into addiction? Unlike substance addiction, behavioral addictions don’t involve drugs or alcohol, yet they can be just as damaging to our mental health, relationships, and daily life. From gambling to internet addiction, these compulsive behaviors can interfere with work, school, and emotional well-being.

In this episode, clinical psychologists Alvin Tan and Kiran explore what behavioral addictions are, how they compare to substance addictions, and what makes someone more vulnerable. We also discuss their impact on mental health and, most importantly, ways to manage and overcome them.

Grief Is Not a Straight Line: Understanding Loss and Healing

Grief touches everyone—but we don’t all grieve the same way. Whether it’s the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or the loss of a future we imagined, grief can feel confusing, overwhelming, and deeply personal.

In this episode, clinical psychologists Alvin and Vi Vian explore the complexities of grief and loss. What’s the difference between grief and complicated grief? How do we know when someone needs help? And how can we support ourselves—or others—through the grieving process?

If you or someone you know is navigating grief, this conversation is for you.

Why Worry So Much? Understanding Generalized Anxiety

We all worry—but when worry spirals, it can take over our lives. In this episode, clinical psychologists Alvin and Kwan Jie unpack Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)—what it is, how it works, and why it’s more than just “overthinking.”

They explore the psychology behind chronic worry, discuss treatment options, and share helpful ways to better manage anxiety in everyday life.

If your mind often races with “what ifs,” or if you support someone with high anxiety, this episode is for you.

"Should I get my child assessed?"

Whether it’s challenges with learning, behaviour, attention, or emotions, it can be hard to know when a child’s struggles are something they’ll grow out of… or something that needs professional support.

I’m joined today by Tan Ei Win, Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Director at Bright Start Child and Adolescent Psychology (https://brightstart.my/). With years of experience working with children, teens, and families, Ei Win helps us unpack what a psychological assessment actually involves, when it’s helpful, and what parents can expect from the process.

We also talk about common signs that are easy to miss, the fears many parents have about “labelling” their child, and how the right assessment can open doors to real, meaningful support — at home and in school.

If you’ve ever had that gut feeling that your child is struggling, but didn’t know what to do next — this one’s for you.

hi there people psych solutions, just sharing my thoughts on someone who have been through counselling session before

1. as society nowadays are getting more complicated and people are mentally stressed out, is there anyway that you can offer trial counseling to the needies?

2. even though I went through counselling session, it doesn't solve my problem albeit I feel more grounded after that. it's just touches on emotional needs but doesn't help to salvage anything. I did the heavy lifting after paying thousands to go through counselling session. according to the counsellor, they say that they require more time and session to understand my background from childhood memories to help me even better

3. do you have service that cover on Neuro-Linguistic Programming?
