Hi guys.

I need help in deciding which one for my next rotation. I'm stuck between the 3 below. shop is pushing for pirelli saying it's best in all 3 classes (comfort, safety and performance/handling).

It's between Michelin Primacy 4 (current set) new is RM10 less than Pirelli per pc

Vs

Goodyear Eagle F1 (1 year road hazard warranty) Cheapest around rm50 less than pirelli per pc

Vs

Pirelli Cinturato Rosso (6 month road hazard warranty) most expensive.

Please share your view between the 3 if you have experience in the following aspects comfort/performance/handling/safety.

Thanks all.

Bro, first of all did you knew this 3 tires are from different category?
If your just normal driving, premium touring tires good enought. If really into sportier drive like always high speed cornering or highway speed demon then go for UHP. There is no perfect tires, want comfort low noise premium touring, but lack in traction/grip compare to UHP tires, while UHP is the other opposite (less in comfort/noise compare to premium touring)

Primacy 4 - Premium Touring tires

Eagle F1 - UHP tires

Centurato Rosso - Premium Touring tires

Got it thanks for the feedback.

I was under the impression all 3 are same Category I.e. sports high performance tyres. Thanks for highlighting.

How about wear and tear? I'm assuming UHP would wear off faster than touring Tires? My Michelin has lasted quite well and I have to say I'm not exactly a slow driver I.e. high speed highway maneuvering. Guilty as charged.

Comfort wise it's not as good as the previous rotation which were Toyo.

Maybe ask shop if can get Hankook S1 Evo3. My bros's new car got this tyre factory fitted and they are surprisingly quiet and comfortable on both trunk roads and highways for a UHP.

I would hazard a guess it will be cheaper than all of your 3 current options.

Actually, after i read Eagle F1 Sport brochure, although it is marketed as Entry UHP category, but technically it is the middle of UHP and Touring. My next tire purchase will be this.

I am interested to check whether is it better in wet breaking when compared to XM2+

Confirm better if in term of braking performance, UHP tires usually are made better in term of traction/grip which help in braking.

XM2+ is the most basic tire from Michelin, besides from long tread life nothing much advantage for me to recommend it.

I have changed 7X tires in the last 12 years for my Vios 2008 15" and 2018 16"
1. Stock Bridgestone Potenza (factory fitted)
2. Goodyear NCT5
3. Michelin XM2
4. Bridgestone Ecopia
5. Toyo T1R
6. Michelin Pilot Sport 3
7. Stock Toyo Proxess (factory fitted)
8. Michelin Xm2+
9. Dunlop Formula D06

In terms of wet braking and handling, my personal rating as follow:-
1. PS3
2. XM2+
3. XM2
4. Potenza
5. Proxess
The remaining 4 D06, T1R, NCT5 and Ecopia are equally rubbish in wet. From my personal experience, XM2/+ is better than Toyo UHP. Maybe you can share your experience.

Bro, if you read the above history he is comparing to Goodyear Eagle F1, for your 15" & 16" size dont have much choice to choose in market.
If you want value budget performance tires, you can try go for Maxxis Victra I-Pro but the weakess is low tread wear rating.

TS, I'd gotten the Goodyear F1 sport. It's decent but I think Michelin is better. Furthermore P5 is out

For Primacy series they are for sure better in term of comfort, this is the strength of Primacy series as most people will feel good/comfort driving it but in real world comparison data test not all will excel. Not sure about Primacy 5, but from around the net seems like they highlight the extent of the lifespan compare to previous gen and maybe better hydroplane resistant & minor improvement for wet braking when new compare to previous generation.

https://news.michelin.co.uk/articles/michel...onmental-impact

Thanks to a new patented tread pattern, a deeper-channelled tread (+10%)2 allowing optimum water evacuation and the use of latest-generation functional elastomers, MICHELIN Primacy 5 is A-rated according to the European standard. It improves braking performance by 4% on wet surfaces when new3. Its increased lifespan (+18%) allows for driving for longer, approximately 7,000 km (≈ 4,350 miles) further than its predecessor4, in safety, for both daily journeys and long family trips.
