Don't understand why buy the cow when you just wanna drink milk. Deepseek train LLM don't need to buy the GPUs right? just need to rent the compute from cloud providers?

Esp if they really believed in their product is low cost, high efficiency generative AI that doesn't need so many overpriced GPUs. Somemore they are quant traders, fast in fast out no long term position should be their corporate culture if security and confidentiality is not an issue as Deepseek is meant to be opensource and free to download.

I think what the westerners are really afraid of is the next product to come out after Deepseek.

Somehow i think US won't let go Singapore so easy lah, Singapore is a strategic location in especially Malacca strait where every ship has to passby Singapore strait.
