Ktard question here.

Overseas airlines, last minute tickets are very cheap to cover cost.

But why Malaysia very mahal last minute?
Then plane almost half empty.

Thinking logic, why don't sell tickets cheap?

agree. oversea sell just to fill-up the seats.

here cannot coz malaysian love to do/buy last mins.

also, malaysian airlines like to collect money earlier. thats y they always promo buy cheap 3-6 months in advanced. later people cancel, can get change fee + diff (higher) fare = profit.

some like AA, buy new tix is cheaper than change date with fee = this another profit.

They know they are the monopolies. Flight within peninsular or within borneo not expensive. Flight from peninsular to borneo is expensive. They are using that for profiteering.

Because msian will do exactly what you would expect them to do.

If cheap thing come in last minute, then they shall buy it at last minute irregardless of how urgent that flight is.

Then habis lah airlines no need do business already because nobody willing to buy airfare at full price. Either sell it cheap or people will just wait for next opportunity.

They say higher demand higher cost (for you). Which is bullshit. Should be cheaper to cover the cost.

My experience with AA overseas ticket only first few under promo. The rest same price. No such thing as cheap sale in last minute. Lagi dekat, lagi mahal.

overseas of local are all almost the same regardless when it comes to flights, they all use the same pricing system dynamic ones.

you get the cheapest when you book months and months ahead of time that's when the airlines sells at a discounted rate to fill a plane up a a certain % or breakeven. Once that threshold are met then those promo prices are usually gone and that's when the real profits starts to be for the airlines.

Maybe only special cases you get really cheap promo prices last min but I'm sure you the chances are low. Airlines uses shit loads of methods and the price of tickets are different on different time of the day, IP where the booking is done and also cookies to see if you have browsed before and etc

It's management decision really.

Either they go with full hope everyone die die will want to pay extra to grab the seat on last minute.

Or.

Just do last minute deal to fill up plane.

I believer ego here still very high to stick to first one and don't care if plane is only filled 10%.
