My friend is a foreigner who started working in Malaysia a while back. However, recently his employer stopped paying his salary and didn't renew his visa but still expects him to work. What can he do or what can I do to help him out? It's even tougher for him since his dad passed away last year and now he's the one working and helping his mom out with expenses.

Report the employer to the authorities for employing illegal workers.

Unfortunately your friend will be deported but this is better than being continually exploited by the unscrupulous employer.

labor court you mean? will they be able to get the unpaid salary or will that be gone too?

Not sure if JPP or JTK have any power in foreign employee, but I think it does. Your friend may want to refer to them.

As long as there is black and white contract. If he report your friend on working without valid visa, he himself also kena under various act.

Even better if your friend have any proof that the employers is still asking him to work eventhough they know he is wihout visa. Any proof will do, as long as they acknowledge that he is working with them without proper visa. That will land them in hot water.

Whatever he does do not let the employer take notice of it beforehand.

Have seen an absolute dick move from employers on this before.
>Do not pay last few months salary
>Visa almost expire / expired
>When project finished / employer caught wind of possible legal report:
>Employer call immigration on illegal overstaying.
>$$$$ Free labor, possible legal case also averted.

Foreigner always lose out.  They win at labour law then kena immigration law screw them.

Yea thats what im worried about. report to JPP/JTK but end up getting deported and no help bcos he's foreigner :/ I do know that employer also can get in trouble, but i dont hv much faith in the system since I've read on multiple occasions the employers who employ ilegal bangladeshi people arent punished, only the employee is. But i'll give him this advice. tq!

Maybe try message PSM? Parti sosialis malaysia. Saw them always helping workers regardless local or immigrant.

I'll check them out as well. didnt know they helped with this, only knew MCA can help a bit with loan sharks. thanks for the advice!
