I assume it's the tapo camera with hub (C400/420)? if it is, 128GB for high traffic area for 10-12 months of recording, may vary with your clip recording settings. if it's not, then I'm not sure.

It doesn't matter how big capacity. It matters your preference for length of backup footage at your recording settings before things get overwritten

It also depends what resolution u recording and whether u record 24/7 or just movement detection. u can also run the cctv app at computer and u can download the recordings automatically into harddrive for even longer retention period. |

as high as the camera can support so that you can record at max quality for the longest period of time. FYI, H264 1080p 30fps at medium birate (5mb), 1 day already 54 GB...

Mine is 64GB. Enough for 1 week or videos with movements.
Opt for 128GB if possible. Not expensive. |

SD card used indoors no need to use those expensive one. But if outdoors better use expensive one just for durability against heat.

I set mine to only record on detecting movements. Some smart cams can record on detecting a human and not just movements.
I use 64gb and it can last for months before recording over itself again. No need to buy special endurance card. The over recording is very slow unlike dashcam. Also read your cctv specs. It has a limit to what it can take on card capacity |

Got one time due to oversupply, these OEM factories were quietly selling legit branded disks on the cheap. The price hikes just happened only recently about 5 months ago. Luckily I stock enough 64GB cards now. They all hiked about 2X its original prices and now all made in China no more Made in Taiwan unless you willing to pay way more. Sandisk, Kingston, Samsung... QUOTE(ry8128 @ Jan 29 2025, 09:36 PM) Try searching for brands such as Somnambulist, Blinken.. they are actually from the same factory that produces Sandisk/Kingston/Samsung SDs.But don't buy those with pricing way much cheaper than competition, high chances they're defects or bad batches. I feel lucky I was able to grab them very cheap until they started finding out and price their stuffs more expensive after that almost doubled but still way cheaper than branded ones. If you're lucky you can even get Switch complaint A2 SD cards at rock bottom prices. Reliability not guaranteed by to get genuine legit 64GB A2 rated Switch cards for just under RM25 is a steal. ry8128 liked this post
