Parking to know too. But most important must choose those Endurance type. Normal sd card will not be suitable.

I assume it's the tapo camera with hub (C400/420)? if it is, 128GB for high traffic area for 10-12 months of recording, may vary with your clip recording settings. if it's not, then I'm not sure.

It doesn't matter how big capacity. It matters your preference for length of backup footage at your recording settings before things get overwritten

Depends how long u want to store the recordings.. usually the cctv has auto delete old recordings so even 32gb also enough.

It also depends what resolution u recording and whether u record 24/7 or just movement detection.

u can also run the cctv app at computer and u can download the recordings automatically into harddrive for even longer retention period.

as high as the camera can support so that you can record at max quality for the longest period of time. FYI, H264 1080p 30fps at medium birate (5mb), 1 day already 54 GB...

two main things, depends on

1) how long you want the footage
2) what is your video resolutions (full hd vs 4k hd)

price point of 128gb vs 64gb isnt much, i always tell my clients to top up abit just for more storage. better to have than not have
128gb roughly around 2 weeks of footage

for sd card, may refer to the table below. get a sd card with UHS speed card at least

Mine is 64GB. Enough for 1 week or videos with movements.

Opt for 128GB if possible. Not expensive.

For indoor I bought a lauya brand and yup the recording is deleted after some time.

I expect to record it 24/7 because this is for outdoor. I bought it but it has yet to reach my door, so I haven't explore it. Didn't buy bundle with sd card because it is way cheaper to buy it separate hence asking.

SD card used indoors no need to use those expensive one. But if outdoors better use expensive one just for durability against heat.

Mine is C420 and it records in short clips so it took a year and a bit to reach 120+GB, C410 I'm not sure if it records in clips or just continuous recording. That said, go as high as you can for storage, or just max it out to 512GB with a proper sdcard.

64GB best price/volume ratio balance.Affordable at today pricing. Can provide 10-8days HD recording per cam.

For larger capacities, wait for it to go cheaper in 1-2 years time then only buy.

This is for c410 which is the battery cam? Sorry to say i don't think it can record 24/7, even if you connected it to the solar panel. The solar panel is to keep charged enough to top up assuming recording is done based on triggered event

My 128gb sd card recording at 2k at h264 , 30 fps is around 4-5 days, this is for 24/7 operation

Lol, no. If the sd card is constantly being written and unwritten on especially for cctv and dashcams , it wont last long if u use the normal type. Need to use the high endurance type.

1 year ago, it is 64gb. Not sure bout now though. I even bought additional 1 unit of 64gb last year as it is quite cheap, still unused yet.

Better to buy spare so if have faulty, can immediately change.

I set mine to only record on detecting movements. Some smart cams can record on detecting a human and not just movements.
I use 64gb and it can last for months before recording over itself again.
No need to buy special endurance card. The over recording is very slow unlike dashcam.

Also read your cctv specs. It has a limit to what it can take on card capacity

Currently for samsung endurance
64gb RM51.
128gb Rm90.

The gap between 128gb and 256gb has closed now, only few ringgit difference between them.

RM51 for 64GB? You got ripped off already.

I bought a few "Made in Taiwan" OEMs with true 64GB capacity ones last year for under RM15.

Prices have actually increased recently due to additional taxes and lower demands from China as output has decreased due to oversupply.

After they figured out, all raised to about RM20-RM25.

Correct and if you know how to choose OEM China branded ones which produces for Sandisk, Samsung etc. you can get bargains for 64GB on the cheap below RM20 a bout a year ago. Then after Malaysia implemented additional tax for China imports they all had price hikes.

I have methods to identify fakes with tests for real capacity and average transfer speeds to confirm its ratings.

They're real deals.

I don't buy brands just for the sake of it, they all come from the same China OEM factory customized with brand logos.
Got one time due to oversupply, these OEM factories were quietly selling legit branded disks on the cheap.

The price hikes just happened only recently about 5 months ago. Luckily I stock enough 64GB cards now. They all hiked about 2X its original prices and now all made in China no more Made in Taiwan unless you willing to pay way more.

Sandisk, Kingston, Samsung...

Use H2TestW and CrystalDiskMark to confirm their real capacity and transfer speeds.

How sure about reliability when those expensive SD card you buy come from the same OEM manufacturer? How long do you plan to use those SD cards before deciding to replace them for larger capacities?

1 year? 2 year? Or you plan to use it forever?

Worth paying double?

64GB cards at most I'll pay is no more than RM30 even for popular branded ones true class-10 rated(10MB/s rated sequential writing more than enough for standard HD recording).

You willing to pay more than RM50 for a 64GB card? I have nothing to say about your decision.

I use my sdcards until they fail which is definitely more than 2 years.
I do not replace them for the sake of bigger capacity but because its cheaper price/gb for the bigger capacity.

So the warranty they give is for wayang?
Yes, worth paying double for peace of mind.

Try finding them on Lazada and AliExpress, don't use Shopee for direct China OEMs less reliable..

Some of them look like Samsung/Sandisk/Kingston with same colors but different brands on them. They're not counterfeit cards but rebranded unsold branded OEMs that needs stock clearance.

It's a bargain if you can get it cheap but luck. Sometimes they're real branded ones on stock clearance but are defects/faulty (not being able to store its rated capacity) some are lower capacity but manufacturing defects printed with wrong capacity so they clear them as unbranded stocks.

Try searching for brands such as Somnambulist, Blinken.. they are actually from the same factory that produces Sandisk/Kingston/Samsung SDs.

But don't buy those with pricing way much cheaper than competition, high chances they're defects or bad batches.

I feel lucky I was able to grab them very cheap until they started finding out and price their stuffs more expensive after that almost doubled but still way cheaper than branded ones.

If you're lucky you can even get Switch complaint A2 SD cards at rock bottom prices. Reliability not guaranteed by to get genuine legit 64GB A2 rated Switch cards for just under RM25 is a steal.
