Wax does not last long, especially cheap wax, which will come off after a couple of washes and become less shiny. My longest wax experience was NuPolish, which lasted 8 months, after that need allot of work to reapply.

So far I've tried Wax and Ceramic Coating.. I would say ceramic coating lasts longer, 1 year still shiny, less stains and is easier to wash. Wax on the other hand its the same for a couple of months then you'll need to reapply.

Note: Wax is never meant to be stayed on forever with every rain or washed it will come off.

Note: Wax and Polish is different things.

Mine just spray this and buff that with microfiber towels, and best time cz last few weeks with raining time in KL- Kajang. This works well for water repelling and make my car clean last longer cz dirt hardly stay on the body. I put it also on the windscreen and windows as well

The bottles put can use on car exterior hence I put it on the windscreen, windows as well. Just use for 1 month now, the water repelling is still great on windscreen. No issues on my silicone wiper, it swipe properly

if you cared enough about your car to take the time to wash your car yourself every week then send it for a coating, makes a load of difference because washing becomes less tedious - especially the drying part..

however, if you are a person who couldn't be bothered about it and prefer to send your car to a car wash then don't waste your money on applying a coating.

... and to answer your question, car coating (read: not the paint's clear coat) is not a gimmick and it works as it should but not as advertised. i have seen too many jokers out there promoting that their coating has "self cleaning" properties which is total bullshi-

been debating about this option

my primarily concern is stone chip and minor scratch from other car inside parking area.

for PPF, usually what is the average cost for a SUV
let say cover the the overall body?

any recommendation of shop in KL or within klang valley.

for ceramic coating, any recommended shop?

Done ppf for suv size car but front section, whole front bonnet, bumper, fender and free gift on side mirror. Rm2k. Price varies from shop to shop, some even at rm4k for front only. Different, brand and self healing, mine choose the non self healing but branded, Oraguard brand. No yellowish on 4th year now.
Coating, if can return back, will buy those coating / wax sprays and DIY, for me its same feedback for water repelling effect

if you think that you'll eventually caved in to sending your car to car washes then skip the coating. also, only use your clay bar for detailing, not on maintenance washes.

he able charge around 2k for only car paint coating and rim coating around 800+...

since you plan to wash and maintain car yourself... if i were you i would diy using easy to use ceramic spray or hybrid wax products...

cheapest ceramic spray like foxsur, fantastic xml, ohsolah, diamond, etc for less than rm20... they only last about 2 months... but so easy use...

slightly better you have tonyin ceramic spray or wax for about rm 70...

even better is turtle wax ceramic spray coating, meguairs or griots garage 3in1... these set you back are 120-170... i'm using 3in1, its a polymer wax with ceramic lasts about half to a year...

best spray imho is gyeon cancoat... costs 300+... but at this price you're probably just send it to the shop biggrin.gif but the cancoat will cover a few cars...

yeah... fusso is a polymer sealant... i have it, also fusso wax... didn't mention them because no ceramics wink.gif

also i find them attract dust and oil... car looks nice, beading good... but after a while hard to clean also need to wash more often

full ceramics base is far superior in my experience

yeah... full prep work n multi coats will take a few days...

just wash dry n coat can be done in a day... effort to coat a car is the same... just some brands are more expensive...

yt has a guy... scott something... he tested many brands and found some cheaper Chinese brands beating expensive US name brands... so price alone is not determination of quality...
