Dear all,

I have not been following PS3 scene at all. SO i have a few more questions.

1) I have a dell 2405fpw monitor and is wondering i can get the ps3 to connect to it in full HD, be it gaming or BD. Anyone here uses that setup? I believe we need to have some sort of hdmi > DVI convertor. Anyone that has this set up pls voice out ok?

2) Are there any M** to make the PS3 play *ahem* games?

3) are games region locked?

4) can we play games online? and how do we go about downloading game demo?

5) i have a creative gigaworks s750, any ideas how i can connect my ps3 to it?

thanks all for the help. looking forward to join the PS3 community here on LYN.

The Dell 2405FPW is not HDCP capable, so u won't be able to use it with your PS3. Only way u can use it is with the component cables but limited to 1080i. nod.gif

Since you guys are talking about HD resolution, is 1080p > 1080i ? Or it's the other way around?
Does the picture quality really differs?

yes u are rite.. 1080p > 1080i.
for the picture quality.. i suggest wait for the otai's to answer.. ehehe. technically.. progressive draws the image entirely while interlace draw the image line by line.. 24 frame per second, u cant really see it work. hehe..

The 2405fpw is not HDCP ready. That means, you cannot use HDMI/DVI converter. So full HD is not possible. But you can still go with 720p/1080i using component cables.

2) Are there any M** to make the PS3 play *ahem* games?

Currently there are no *** available - not that i'm aware off...beside the game content will take ages to download and further more...BD disc is expensive to produce.

3) are games region locked?

Yes, refer to the descriptions below

DVD region
Blueray region

* At first, It sounded like BD is not region lock because we Asian shared the same region as Japan and US - region A

4) can we play games online? and how do we go about downloading game demo?

Yes you can play certain game ( which ever supported online mode ). To download games, demos, trailer and other content you need to have a PSN account. Just create one and select the region of your choice. Recommended to have US/JAPAN too because they have the most extensive content compared to other region.

Buying from the PSN store is a bit tricky because Sony have restricted certain CC...but you can buy prepaid cards and enter the credit into your account and start buying stuff. Not sure if local stores carry them.

5) i have a creative gigaworks s750, any ideas how i can connect my ps3 to it?

Just like any normal setup. Just plug in audio cable from PS3 into your system. Not really sure since i use a a different setup ( optical direct in AMP )

thanks all for the help. looking forward to join the PS3 community here on LYN.

The cheapest alternative is get any DHCP monitor (usually 24inch above) can play full 1080p. Example benQ 24 inch. biggrin.gif

Nowadays the new dell 24 inch can support 1080p also.

Ok, for question no 5 i have found the creative ddts 100. this allows me to connect the ps3 audio( optical or analogue) to the ddts decoder and then to the speakers i have. My question is, can I use the PS3 hdmi out (video only in my case) and yet still use the audio out (optical or analogue) of the ps3 to my speakers. Anyone here can help me on this?
