Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share my super frustrating experience with ASUS warranty service and see if anyone else has had similar issues.

I bought an ASUS Vivobook S14 Flip less than a year ago, and after only five months, the touchpad coating started peeling off. When I contacted customer service, they told me it wouldn’t be covered under warranty. But when I took it to the service center, they said it might be covered. Talk about confusing!

But that’s not even the worst part. The plastic frame of the laptop just came apart on its own, no mishandling, no dropping, nothing. This caused the left side of the screen to pop out, and because the frame wasn’t holding it in place, the screen cracked. rclxub.gif
Now, I’m being told I have to pay RM1.5K for repairs, even though this looks like a design flaw, not something I did. I went to the service center, explained everything, and they just decided that it’s "Customer-Induced-Damage" (CID) without even giving me a solid reason why. Like, how does a plastic frame just come off by itself? And how does a "military-grade" laptop fall apart like this?

Honestly, I’m just really frustrated. sad.gif sad.gif I’m being told to pay for something that shouldn't have happened in the first place. It feels like ASUS is just trying to put the blame on me for a defect that clearly isn't my fault.

Has anyone else gone through this with ASUS Malaysia? How did you handle it?

Also, I found some other posts online where people are having similar issues with the VivoBook series,so I’m definitely not the only one dealing with this. (cant post the links because im under probation)

as a 3rd party, it still looks like CID to me

you havent seen HP laptops yet, HP is known as hinge problem

the screen replacement is probably half price if you do it outside

I'm not sure about Vivobook series, been using Expertbook series for 2yrs now and it doesn't give me problems. Apart from Windows updates... hahaha... laugh.gif

About the hinges problems, its common on all makes & models...

After some long period of use whether its HP, Dell, Lenovo... all have the same problems, the hinges screws will become loosen or worst it will cracked causing an uneven opening of the LCD screen and thus damaging the screen itself.

But in your case, it was indeed quality problems. I can't blame those Asus technicians, based on the photos you have shared, it does seems to be CID. But they should have listened to your story first before deciding.

So I would suggest that you either source the parts Online (Shopee/Lazada) and replaced it yourself, or just convert it to a Desktop mode & get another laptop for daily use.

Cheers... cool2.gif

the problem with this hinge is unsolvable.. almost no gap for the arm to adjust once u open it wrong force (side)
