To all sifu and everybodys out there.

Today, when I want to change my Rims at Jalan Kapar, I have saw one of the guy at that tyre shop Jack Up my Myvi Torsion Beam mad.gif . I just realize when this person want to install rims at my car, and immediately I ask him to replace that Jack place to lower side of my car body.

Time taken from replace my rims to install new rims around 45 minutes (until I realized this)

So far, there is no bent in the torsion beam, but I am afraid if in the long run, there will maybe have a problem with my rear Suspension system.

Also, I have ask the foremen (Pomen) to check my torsion beam, he used his hand touching there and there and told me there is no problem at all....

Why this is happened to me, as I know from the net, this shop is known to have a better prices for their wheels...

Please advise all sifus out there...

Torsion beam? The middle part? I think it is rigid enough to be a jacking point. No worries smile.gif

Now my extra headache, since they workmanship is soooo bad, what shop should I go if I want to buy Eibach?

BTW, Is it sure no effect to my car since there is no bend at the moment.

So,its that mean that myvi can jack at torsion beam, like what i saw in the beam notice " do not jack at this member"...so its mean that P2 have warned us that this beam is no no thing to jack up

bleah its just a torsion beam that has no utter significance when its manhandled properly. a proper mech could use a lift, but if there's none, a torsion beam can be used as a jack point only if there is no extra load on the rear suspension members. in other words - won't bend one la.

hup shun at sunway also did this to my car, no problems whatsoever also almost a year after my alignment+balancing.

Bend on Torsion beam or dead axle can only happen during accident, rear wheels hitting walls so don't worry, it's strong enough..

Torsion beam setup for rear suspension only in cheap hatchbacks like myvi, savvy to save cost and space...and in rare cases found in cheap sedans like city, vios and sentra..show how cheap the nipponese are.

there are... at least 4 points for each car but those points designed to use specific car jack...
if use those mechanic shop's car jack may bend the points...

if jack up the other points which is strong enough to support car chassis should sufficient...

anyway, myvi torsion beam just a pieces of steel which bended as U shape, it wasnt a pipe design or solid bar design... once the U shape beam going to bend sure have to change whole rear suspension system... sweat.gif so better dont risk it...

I recommend Jooi Seng's closeby competitor, Ban Hooi... Ban Hooi's workers are quite well-trained, they do their jobs properly... Some more, one of my friends is one of the managers there, so I feel safer letting them handle my car...

No doubt they did a huge mistake there but don't worry too much, the torsion beam is quite tough, it won't get bent that easily...

If you're coming in from Klang Town, turn into the Jalan Kapar junction like u would with Jooi Seng, go straight for another 500m and u'll be able to see Ban Hooi (with a huge Goodyear billboard) on your left hand side... It's on the same row as the Tabung Haji building...

Actually the cheap but good for nothing nipponese sentra is actually using 'Rear: Multi-link Beam Suspension' sad.gif

http://www.nissan.com.my/vehicles/sentra/specifications.html

Nevertheless, there are el-cheapo rally bred with rear torsion beam in this world. One of it is the Peugeot 106 Rallye.

http://www.106rallyeforum.com/forum2008/in...hp?pageid=specs

QUOTE
The Peugeot 106 RALLYE Series 1 was born out of necessity - to compete and win international rallying for the popular sub 1400cc car class. It was homologated into international group N and A rallying class, and therefore a minimum number of road going cars had to be built. It was launched in the UK at the London Motor Show in late October 1993.

Peugeot originally commissioned 1000 Rallyes to be imported into the UK but the actual number of cars imported was higher than this due to the popular demand from the UK consumer market.  They were available to buy new from Peugeot dealers since November 1993 with the last new RALLYE registered in May 1997.

There are now approximately 969 S1 Rallyes registered in the UK (DVLA 2003) that makes it one of the rarest Peugeot models in existence.

QUOTE
The Peugeot 106 Rallye suspension is similar to that on the Peugeot 106 XSi, the only difference being increased diameter anti-roll bars. The springs and dampers are shared with the XSi.

Up front, a forged steel wishbone and an independent 22mm anti-roll bar are linked to the support strut by a double ball-jointed rod. This layout results in a virtually instantaneous anti-roll response which exactly meets the design specification.

The rear trailing arm and torsion bars suspension also has an anti-roll bar with its diameter increased to 21mm from the 19mm bar fitted to the XSi. The two torsion bars are 19mm which is the same size as the 106 XSi and GTi 16v.

vanquish...could you introduce me to your friend at Ban Hooi, maybe can get low price for eibach spring...(I also dont know where is this shop located at).

And...

Today, I have double check my torsion beam, and thank god, there is no bend...fuuuhhh

Anyway...for a safety reason, when I have my 3rd service in a few days, I will ask SC staff to check my Torsion beam condition...

And for Jooi Seng... I already lost my confident (Torsion beam jack up, scratch my new rims, argghhhhhhhhh...)

U mean the teeth of the lug nuts, izzit? It will depend on what quality and design of the lug nuts u're using, if u're using normal cheapo nuts, it won't last too long, but it depends on the design of the teeths as well... The lug nuts I'm using also el cheapo nuts, some more the teeth design cannot withstand too much stress from air guns... So everytime they service my wheels and tyres, they have to unscrew them out manually... tongue.gif

My advice is, invest a bit more on a set of decent lug nuts, it will last u for quite a while...

"teeth" lug nuts, I presume you mean - what we call spline drive.
Check out McGard Spline Drive Lug Nuts

These type of lugs are quite secure but unfortunately for the cheap ones, their keys(sockets) are easily available. If you are willing to invest on a good set of rims & tyres, then get a lug nuts with special pattern which can only be open with your key. These lug nuts are very secured and they keys are not easily available unless you show to the dealer your warranty card then manufacturer will then get you a replacement key.

If you were to invest in those quality lug nuts or the aluminium type, do ask them to tighten it manually or else it could break or twist the lug nuts. A set good quality lug nuts should set you back around RM 400-RM 700.

Just to let you know, that the air-gun that they use to untighten/tighten the lug nuts very powerful and it will actually damage the lug nuts. The air-guns has got no way to control the torque. The actual way to tighten the lug nuts is to use torque wrench.
