I know some insurance doesn't cover suicide or self harm.

But what about situation where we can prevent the harm by just avoiding it.

For example, I saw a parang guy tried to rob and old lady, I intervened and end up got slashed. If I have not intervene and just call PDRM, I will not need to go to hospital.

Will insurance cover me for the injuries in trying to protect the lady ? Or won't cover it with justification I can avoid it.

In this case, most insurance will ask you to provide a police report. They wont cover if you were injured because you attack someone. They will cover if you were attacked. And if its gang related attack, I think wont cover.

Guys just FYI, I attended an insurance briefing, apparently now insurance won't cover if you attend competitive sports as well, except for running only.

Ie if you join badminton competition and you got injured, insurance won't cover you.

That depends mostly on what insurance. Some have an extensive lists of sports that is considered "extreme". Although I think most will cover regular sporting event.

What they wont cover if you play as a full time professional. Semi pro, like you have an office job and not your full time job as a sportsmen should be okay.

I would be interested to know the insurance name that wont pay for competition sport.

What if you have nothing to do with the gang attack ?

Like you sitting on bench, 10 people from gang mistaken you for other people, they beat you up until need masuk ICU, got cover ?

should cover. although it will be quite a headache for whoever issuing the guarantee letter. bruce.gif

but since you masuk ICU, probably unconscious, how can you make a police report? hmm.gif it's a catch-22 situation lol.

No need to assume. Just check your policy document and find out the exclusions lah.

This is one of the exclusions from my policy- Sickness or Injury arising from illegal activities, playing professional sports, racing of any kind (except foot racing) or hazardous sports such as but not limited to skydiving, base jumping, cliff diving, flying in an unlicensed aircraft or as a learner, martial arts, free climbing, mountaineering with or without ropes, water skiing, scuba diving to a depth of more than 10 metres, trekking to a height of over 2,500 metres, bungee jumping, canyoning, hang gliding, paragliding or micro lighting, parachuting, potholing, skiing off piste or any other winter sports activity carried out off piste.
