Was asked by my parents to reconfigure and buy a new router cause the old one was heating up and disconnecting frequently

The network map looks like this

Internet --> UniFI modem --> Router(Wifi 1) --> Dahua Switch --> Rujie AP 1&2 (Wifi 2)
--> Security system

The origional router default gateway was 192.168.1.1 then new router is 192.168.0.1

So first task was reconfiguring the Dahua Switch and Rujie Bridge

I kinda have no idea how to access the Dahua Switch it doesn't really show up in the router client list
But was able to access the Rujie AP webpage.

I adjusted some setting but now connecting to the Rujie AP on the laptop connects to the internet fine but android devices doesn't get internet but i get on to the network
the fuck is wrong?

Your dahua switch not in router client list because it unmanaged switch which is Plug & Play. Either managed or unmanaged it only function as extender to add extra LAN port to your internal network.

Why need switch? Your rujie device, reset back as router. Make it mesh client for the main router or connect directly to router LAN port.

is the dahua switch a smart managed switch or just a dumb switch?

why not change new router ip range/dhcp range to the old 192.168.1.1?

U don't mention the model, how do I know. No need to touch ur new router. Only reset ur rujie & change wifi SSID. Ignore if the IP same as main router, Then connect to main router, rujie IP now 192.168.1.1.

Why the headache ?

1. Just configure the new router to use back the same IP address = 192.168.1.1

2. Configure the same SSID & Password for the Wifi network.

3. Configure the same DHCP range & DNS address.

This way, you do not need to mess around on each devices, as it will auto connect back to the same wifi network (some devices may required restart).

Hope this helps... cool2.gif

I'm don't understand why he use the switch. Your #3 can make him more headache for sure. Device which use console cable, should introduced to him also.

If not mistaken, I saw before on some of my client's place, that DaHua Switch is actually a PoE Switch for their CCTV Cameras, all cameras connected to that switch & a NVR too.

I believe that AP is running on old protocol, but before changes what is the speed achieved ?

Maybe you should think of replacing that AP too... cool2.gif

I see, then leave that Rujie AP as is, for the security devices to connect.

Configure another SSID in TP-Link for other devices like Laptop, Smartphone etc.

This way, slow devices will continue to connect to the old SSID, while newer & faster device will connect to TP-Link.

Hope this helps... cool2.gif
