Guys

Im planning to build a new gaming PC, unfortunately, there is no 9800x3d in stock

likely the build only going complete in Mar/Apr

quick question : should i buy 32GBx2 6000Mhz DDR5 now or just wait when building?

Why? Got CNY sale on Lazada.. getting some discount..

Problem is RAM price is unstable, can go up or down.... and I have no urgency to buy except for the discount...

What your thoughts?

DDr5 state in malaysia is rather sad and not much choices.. and prices are pretty much sideways, as u said up and down. hard to say at the moment.

edit: if you can get 2x16GB 6000 CL30 kit for < rm500 then it is a good buy. Kingston Beast (non-rgb) seems to be priced well.

6000 CL26 & 28 are coming but of course, it will take ages to reach here.

DRAM prices is trending downwards but how it affects local prices depends if the drops are temporary or not. Likely our resellers/distros will maintain current pricing until it goes back to normal level again or else will also start to drop if global prices continue down.

So unless you got a good deal, if you can wait then wait.

FYI buying parts separately (diff sellers moreso spanning months) will also make getting LHDN tax deduction difficult if Taxman cometh.

Target for DDR5 6000-6400 with CL 30-36. Newer low latency (<CL30) kits suggested by overfloe will not be cheap I think will similar prices to higher speeds kit(7200 & above).

Protip: all these are still based on Hynix A die or M die, so you can get a good value 6000 CL36 kit and manually tune the RAM latency down towards CL30 and lower which will give similar perf to higher priced RAM kits. Just need to put in work & time if your up for it.

I'm looking at 2x32GB kit (6000MT) ; and right now price is still upward of RM1k even with discount

I also thinking to get good mobo x870 ; retail 1.6k ish but with discount can get 1.3k+ ; but problem is that I'm sure 9800x3d will not sell as CPU alone ; hence negate the savings if buy now

Can check if combo deals might give better savings ie Viewnet has 9800x3d with x870 combo. Might be cheaper than getting discounts separately. Right now 9800x3d is being scalped.

ya bro 2x32GB is around rm1k. likely it will stay that way.. if we look at the price trend, 6000mhz ddr5 is pretty much sideways:

If in their listing you prolly have to preorder for now but at least will come. As I said its getting scalped globally. If you want it now you have to pay scalper prices.

ITX? Your looking into building inside SFF? That 9800x3d & 5080 will choke each other hard unless you get a good SFF case. Also ITX stuff are not cheap.
