From my experience, perform manual backup on WhatsApp.
Then turn off data / WiFi, this is to prevent new messages / media from messing up your current manual backup.
Get OTG with thumbdrive and copy the folder Internal Storage/Android/Media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp
This will be very time consuming depending how large your data.

Upon completion, paste this folder in the same location as new Phone with WhatsApp installed WITHOUT login in first.
After finishing transfering, only then you login and WhatsApp will search cloud / local backup. It should recover everything.

Any new content or message will then continue from the offline backup you did previously.

When you hit backup, basically it compress the file locally first. Then only upload to Google Cloud.

The backup seems to be incremental as you use. Hence it's easier as your backup adds on.

Just get the cheapest TPU case will do

I used WiFi direct transfer and fully utilise WiFi 6 speed.
Any files leftover, just use OTG since it's small file.
