If you purchase the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra in March 2025, you can expect a total of 7 major Android OS updates.

Because the S25 Ultra launched in early 2025 with Android 15, your update path will likely look like this:

    Android 16 (Late 2025)
    Android 17 (2026)
    Android 18 (2027)
    Android 19 (2028)
    Android 20 (2029)
    Android 21 (2030)
    Android 22 (Final Update, 2031/2032)

Security Support
Samsung also guarantees 7 years of security patches, meaning your device will remain protected against vulnerabilities until early 2032.

for you still ok. but for people who buying older phones, that major os update counter keeps ticking since the release of the product, not when you bought it. so people waiting years till the price drop, understand that those major os update counter is also ticking down as well sweat.gif

just a reminder, dont forget to account for FEWER major android releases, and shorter security update, if you delay purchase.

in your case, it seems fine.

i'm quite happy with my s24 ultra. it will last me longer than most phones. cause not many do like samsung for the long firmware update. it's very transparent what to expect for this when you buy your smartphone.

and they also have a trade in program. they even had a 50% trade in if you change you smartphone yearly laugh.gif donno what offer when i need to replace, but will see.

You have a point but honestly in my opinion, people who buy old phones dont really care about updates usually. For example you mentioned S25 have guaranteed updates until around 2031, that was like what 5 years from now? By that time S25 already a relic.... if people wanted to buy a cheap phone that time they could be a looking at the latest entry - mid range phone, or a second hand flagship phone like S27 or S28 that time, doubt S25 would still be in anyone's consideration unless its given for free.

I just moved from Xiaomi to Samsung environment. While I can wake up the screen by double tapping the screen, I noticed it is not possible to turn it off by double tapping the home button (Xiaomi can do this). Or am I missing anything? I prefer not to use the physical power button.

I am aware of double tapping on an empty space on the screen to turn it off. But when you have an app opened (Whatsapp for example) you need to go to the homepage and double-tap on the empty space. That is very troublesome.

Just one swipe up to close the app and double tap. Not an issue for me

And wouldn't double tapping in an app be more annoying since you have so many elements and might accidentally tap them?

Sorry, I should rephrase. In Xiaomi, I can long press the virtual home button and it will turn off the screen, no matter what apps I am on. That is very convenient and will not interfere with anything.
The long press home button in Samsung cannot be customized?

Not sure about home button but you can use One Hand Operation+ from Good Lock, then configure a swipe action to off screen

Then you can just swipe the screen edge to off screen on any app
