Can vouch for LG but the software part is true. I am currently using 2 LG TV in my house. The first one bought in 2014 and came with Web OS 1.0. It never get an update and is slow as molasses. The best solution is to pair it with Android Box or Apple TV. Much better and you get a lot of apps selection on top of software support.
