Huang You Long, husband of mainland Chinese actress Zhao Wei, is facing major legal troubles as Wise Choice Ventures Limited filed a lawsuit against him for an outstanding debt of approximately HK$753 million. The case was lodged in the High Court on 23rd December.

According to the court documents, Huang is accused of failing to repay both the principal amount and accrued interest. In addition to the principal sum, the plaintiff is also seeking payment for pre-judgment interest and related legal costs.

Huang has previously encountered financial difficulties, including allegations of owing rental payments for a duplex unit in Westminster Terrace, Tsuen Wan, along with six parking spaces. In 2023, the property owner filed a separate claim against him for around HK$2.8 million in unpaid rent and fees. Furthermore, in January 2022, a financial company pursued Huang for over HK$300 million in unpaid debts and interest.

Zhao was a target of lawsuits filed by 67 investors demanding some 50 million yuan ($7.45 million) in compensation for a misleading takeover in 2016, and she and her husband were banned from China's securities markets for five years for market violations in 2017.

She's also blacklisted in China where all her biz used to be based.
