I've been using redone for quite some time. But notice that the connection is getting really bad for almost half of the stations we go through every working day, eg. Taman Midah all the way to Bukit Bintang. It's so bad that we can't even send a msg out through WhatsApp.
Redone is supposedly riding on celcom digi which is supposed to have the widest coverage in Malaysia (not sure how true). Thinking of switching to another telco, so would like to ask you guys on how your connection is like during your daily MRT ride (hotlink/maxis, umobile, Unifi, etc). I don't want to switch to another telco that has the same issue lol.
Thanks in advance.
PS: The bad connection persists through 2 different phones so it shouldn't be phone issue 😅

Its the same everywhere you go if you are talking underground coverage.
Celcom used to be so reliable back then because their 3G speed is actually usable compared to Maxis. However, ever since our government shuts down 3G, you can wave goodbye to underground mobile coverage. 2G works for calls but not internet. 4G has slightly better wall penetration than 5G but unless shopping malls and train station installed repeater, chances are signal is going to suck.

Yea. I understand the underground coverage issue. But i face similar issue with stations like Pertama and Taman Connaught. The more annoying part is when I'm stuck loading some page but other ppl in the same train are happily scrolling/streaming without issue 😑 It seems like many recommend maxis. I will prob start checking maxis/hotlink plans then! Thanks for your input.

For CelcomDigi not sure if there's a difference in network between postpaid and prepaid. I've been using their CD40 postpaid and haven't had any issue along that route.

No issue on Celcom Prepaid as well using the MRT. Perhaps using the main telco instead of Redone as MVNO will improve the experience?
And do note MRT use B7 as main 4G band, so phones from China (imported sets) will not work well regardless of which telco u are using

Does that mean CelcomDigi will restrict MVNO to access some of the cell towers? 🤔 Can anyone share some knowledge about this? I wouldn't want to completely rule out CelcomDigi if that's the case. I was using a realme phone and now the latest iPhone. Both will lose data connection completely and consistently at Taman Pertama.

Both will lose data connection completely and consistently at Taman Pertama. I am coming from the yellow line and rarely went through that area. Can't say about this. It is quite less likely for restricted access on cell towers especially for outdoor coverage, in your scenario, it might really just be weak CelcomDigi coverage (if you are getting no signal or 1 bar). However deprioritization do occured on Celcom MVNO, basically all Celcom MVNOs could not access to IPv6 network, which the experience will be different

It's just that there's no data/internet connection. I've never tried calling in the train before to test if call works or not during those stations. I guess I will have to change to hotlink to test already 😅 Thanks for your input 👍

Its normal after CelcomDigi merged their network inside MRT , last time Kajang Line don't have this issue, now after merge Putrajaya Line and Kajang Line is having this issue. Afaik for Putrajaya line all telco having same problem due to some signal interference issue.
