Don't expect miracles though. I have a moisture meter that can detect, but if the leak has been going on for a while, the whole wall could be damp. It won't be pin point accurate. And ditto the thermal.
You have to know what's behind the wall. Is it a bathroom with failed waterproofing? Concealed water pipes? Concealed air con drain pipe?, a leak from outside (yes that happens) that comes in.....
If your house has been renovated, maybe get the contractor and ask, or a new house, check with the developer for plans first to see what's running in the wall.
I'm assuming you are starting to get paint bubbling and flaking.
