The way we live have changed. In the past, we used to know the houses in the village. We know the house number, the head of the house, the size of the family, who is the eldest,2nd,3rd,... youngest. Nowadays, due to the complexity of the modern living with the scarcity of the "time", it would not be surprising that some didn't even know their neighbor living to the left & right after living in the same community > 10 years. How sad the living community have become, it is similar trend repeating at the different countries as well, not limited locally.

If given me a chance, I'll prefer the good neighborhood feeling back then in the village. Where everyone knows us, everyone is guarding everyone interest & safety, you do not feel unsafe to let your children to walk on the street. The price of the development & scarcity of time.

True. More true if high rise, but I've visited a high rise at Old Klang Road... seems like 80s or 90s design. The community there is amazing. The surau/community center got people. Got sports day for apartment residence. Got one pakcik main tanam sayur, buah ask people to freely take. Some give back. Really like Kg atmosphere, but in KL.

Landed-should be more like communal. May not be during work phase (not retired). Once retired, people get a long well. Community becomes more integrated.

Currently staying at a landed location, technically 2nd gen-a minority in the housing area. Most all 1st gen retired or almost retired. Got activities. Got yearly tour visit. Visit neighbours in hospital etc. But it depends on people and society. For Muslims, there is the 5 times to prayer-so lepak/chat after that. Can confidently leave house cuti-cuti lama because neighbours keep watch.

At the city, majority ppl do not treats their current home as their home.
The city home is always their temporary home, their real home is always their village / hometown.
During the festive season, the city home is not the home for celebration, the celebration is always held back at real home ( village / hometown).
During weekend, the hard to get "me time" or "family time", ppl are busy with own priorities. There is no luxury of excess time for the community.
People do not get to know each other anymore because of the scarcity of time.
People do not fear to cause harm anymore because we don't know each other.
People are more emotionless when dealing with ppl they don't know.
Don't know nowadays, what is the meaning of the life the society are living.
