You can consider a used/refurbished Lenovo Thinkpad/Dell Latitude/HP EliteBook/HP ProBook from Shopee

They will feel better than a new sub 2k laptop due to sturdier construction which may be beneficial for student usage

I bought a refurbished ThinkPad T590 with 40GB RAM and 1TB SSD for a mere 1.2k. That's a lot of ThinkPad for the price.

Warranty none but I stress tested everything to the max on the spot for 2 hours. If the motherboard or CPU fan got problems, it would have crash already. Anyhow, parts easy to get and easy to fix so no biggie.

Self repair la.

ThinkPad parts all modular.

I bought a lot of 4th and 5th gen dead laptops and harvest all for parts for other laptops.

Besides, it's a ThinkPad not Lenovo consumer models which breaks easily.

I still have ThinkPads from 2004 still running and working.
