I am just curious why the car battery sellers often want back the old car battery, what's the benefit of old battery to them? What will they do with all these old battery?

I have a sense that old battery somehow worth some money.

About RM30 in trade in value.

they buy old dead one from us for RM10 then dismantle and take the metal inside to recycler

They can sell the old batter to recycle.

Also some price is cheaper as they use the old battery price to reduce the new.

because some battery even cannot crank your car ; if full charge still can power up some pasar malam light or genset for couple of hour

or even serve as 1 time jump starter for his job


more hardcore 1 is some specialist will cut and replace the module/cell inside the battery ..yes ...refurbish

Just changed mine, ns60l , they bought back rm30

new battery is actually old refurbished battery

u think all new battery keep using everything brand new?
they just dismantle the whole old battery and rebuild it brand new(provided they have the license to do it)

go watch video on Lead acid battery recycling on youtube. they recycle it in a few steps.

compared to NimH, LithiumFePo, LithiumNMC... Lithium polymer....

which are almost impossible to recycle.
