Endless wars, occupations and interference by foreign forces, sanctions, looting of their (oil & gas) national resources …………. They really haven’t had much of a chance and hopefully the Syrian people can get that now. With a peaceful transition which apparently we’re seeing, and soon, a responsible and reasonable government they might have a chance.
Peace dividend can be a great multiplier that covers gross incompetence in many countries.
