AFTER having exposed Xeraya Capital Sdn Bhd as the “next big scam” in sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional Bhd, online whistle-blower FreeMalaysian (@FreeMsian) is now training his guns on home-grown Aerodyne Group which is touted as the world’s leading DT3 (Drone Tech, Data Tech and Digital Transformation) enterprise solutions provider.

Editor’s Note: Credit to FreeMalaysia for his Xeraya Capital exposé has prompted the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) “to analysing the investment made by another firm allegedly owned by Khazanah”.

Interestingly, FreeMalaysian (@FreeMsian) was motivated to unearth the dirt in Aerodyne after its owner Datuk Kamarulazman Muhamed fumed that after the so-called FashionValet Sdn Bhd (FV) debacle “Malaysian start-ups should start thinking and planning to migrate and raise funds elsewhere”.

“The nerve and hypocrisy to say Malaysian start-ups should raise funds elsewhere after he himself has raised multi-millions from government agencies. Mainly from MavCap (Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd). Mounting losses in hundreds of millions,” exposed FreeMalaysian.

He further described Aerodyne as “a high-risk investment” given that the money the real owners seemed to have put in is only RM100k in ordinary shares”.

“Mostly Kamarul and his wife with few Indian nationals,” revealed FreeMalaysian. “The rest of the money of around RM300 mil seem to come from public companies including KWAP (Retirement Fund Inc).”

As he probed deeper, FreeMalaysian found out that the “same Khazanah-linked fellas seemed to have made initial investment into Aerodyne”.

But FreeMalaysian is least surprised with the massive public money channelled to Aerodyne which he described as “a legacy during KJ (Khairy Jamaluddin) and Najib (incarcerated former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak) era”.

Hr further listed out some of the government agencies and government-linked companies (GLCs) which invested in highly risky preference shares at huge premium (around RM300 mil) in Aerodyne.

“My sympathies and condolences to the staff of Aerodyne,” lamented FreeMalaysian in the tail-end of his preliminary post on the drone outfit. “Hope the company survives and the owner goes to jail,”

In subsequent posts, FreeMalaysian shared the plight of Aerodyne employees as the company has been struggling to pay its staff on time.

On lighter veins, FreeMalaysian remarked that “Malaysia is broken!” after finding out that the Aerodyne head honcho (Kamarulazman) is sitting on the board of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). – Nov 8, 2024

The reason for the call today, John, is something just came across my desk, John. It is perhaps the best thing I've seen in the last six months. If you have 60 seconds, I'd like to share the idea with you. You got a minute?

The name of the company, Aerotyne International. It is a cutting edge high-tech firm out of the Midwest, awaiting imminent patent approval on the next generation of radar detectors that have both huge military and civilian applications. Now, right now, John, the stock trades over-the-counter at 10 cents a share. And by the way, John, our analysts indicate it could go a heck of a lot higher than that. Your profit on a mere $6,000 investment could be upwards of $60,000!

This is what happens when government and GLCs limit their options based on race.

You may not get the best outcome for the nation, but is that their objective in the first place?

If u malay, then yes. Same as MARA. I know few malays who get grant from MARA to buy machine. After MARA settle the machine payment, they immediately sell the machine for 50% less in cash. Same goes for pinjaman too. Pinjam-pinjam, but donwan to pay back, and nothing MARA did to chase the defaulters. I have a lot of business ideas, but my country failed me. In the end, I stood on my own feet, did not get any handouts from them, and I am still willing to pay taxes eventhough my corporate taxes already reached 24% bracket for few years now.

Hard to be non malay. Your own country dont want to help u, and foreign countries are not willing either. So we are stuck here with politician that preached unity, racial harmony and equality everyday, but actually did nothing.

Why am I not surprised at all? As long as people dont change their mindset, these kind of "songlap" will continue at the people's expense. And some still dare to ask when will we achieve what they Sinkies have achieved.

100k from founders is already a lot. If it is me, I put maximum a few k. The founders are supposed to contribute efforts, not money. In Malaysia, the founders are even expected to live on their own savings in the initial years. This alone already costs them a few hundred k of lost income.

People build a company because they want financial returns. They want financial returns because they don't have enough money to retire. If they have a few millions, so that they can put in several hundred k, they won't build the company.

The drone tech is bought in. Their strength is in AI based analytics. That is developed in house. When they did the TNB power line inspections, they can turn around few hundred towers worth of inspection data within 24h. We competed against them for many inspection tenders and their guarantee of that turn around time was key to them winning almost every bid.

I have hired Indian Mandarin speakers before.

A lot of times Mandarin is needed as it is to communicate with Chinese clients easier as well.

Most of the time even if you try to use AI tools to decipher real time what people say in Mandarin real time, you'd not be able to decipher 100% and there might be communication issues that lead to stuff like Functional/Technical issues.

Expand your skillset. Don't just be too focused on thinking that all Employers hire just cause of Race.

I had hired local Malays/Chinese/Indians to deal with Indian customers too.

These Malays/Chinese/Indians were hired because they converse and write well in Hindu and did excellent analytical work for that Indian project. What's your point?

RGB images and thermal images. Have to inspect the electrical pylon for missing or damaged components from rust, lightning strikes, bird poop, strong winds and people stealing stuff. TNBs expectation was that the entire network could be inspected twice a year. So need speed. But also detailed till have thermographers and engineers report. So if no automation to sort and do preliminary inspection definitely cannot do in time.

That was in 2016. But now that AI is more popular and more tools are available and also more mature ady, the competition is catching up.

Hindu is a religion. My point is mandarin speaking requirement is usually a racism practice masked as skillset. Really? So all your Chinese customers cannot speak English / BM? This is Malaysia, right?

Most of them don't speak English or speak very bad English. Thus their primary usage of Mandarin.

Expect Chinese customers from China to converse in BM?

You honestly can’t be that stupid
