Hi everyone, really on tight budget, like really mmg no enough money level.

I own Perodua Kembara and the engine is 1.6(long story short, when my brother owned it, he swapped engine, JPJ endorsed all).
So, instead of usual 1.3 or 1.5 , it is 1.6.

It's radiator water decreased over time. Thought it was head gasket, radiator, bla bla.
Only at last moment to realize the block had cracked and had to be replaced.
Basically, the engine is,,, Done sebab block dah crack.
BUT everything else seems perfectly good. cheaper than dvvt versions i assume.
Head is good. valves and other components all good.

I been searching for the BLOCK but prices are still steep for me.
Can u people give any suggestion on;
1. Where can i buy the Block for decent price.

2. Or if there are any other reasonably price alternative.

My father said someone offered 1.6 whole engine(not sure health, other sub componenets condition but i think can swap with mine).
Price was 2800. So far,, that's ouchhh. I know that's the normal price but i'm pressed hard.

SO, ANY help would be welcomed. THank You.

teringin jugak nk k3 vet turbo, loolll,, but jokes only. currently mmg no money.
transmission all sakit kepala.

The crack if it is only on part of the engine, u can replace just that block instead the entire engine, u may find these from halfcut.

Last time my Nissan Sunny replace engine top + workmanship is like RM600 only, the foreman source it from halfcut shop, but that is done in Kuantan.

budget tight or not you still got to repair, you can try searching any expert on welding alloys engine block if this things even exit or not , if possible to welding i think also depends the location of the crack how large, how deep, how visible i mean probably need some sort of x ray to scan.

Tips on engine swap. Find japan engine if possible, check engine model see if can get. Japan engine mostly no issue. Check carousel and fb market place and fb group too

Could be daihatsu HD 1.6 engine. Just source from chop shop or get them to bring it in. But the whole engine could be cheaper than the Block itself

we need to know what 1.6 engine is currently fitted to it? once you know the engine code, it's quite easy to find if it's available on any halfcut/chop shop.

i think it got to be the HD-C/E Daihatsu engine. My brother didn't get any entensive mods, if others models, mounting all need modm, JPJ won't allow, so i guers still the engine that was paired with Kembara(checked the wikipedia page).

Afterall, being rearwheel drive, no other engine will fit easily.

Just guessing.

It's likely you got a HD-C (carburetor) from a Rusa, which I believe some 1st gen Kembara owners swapped out d original HC (which was quite underpowered n thirsty) then configured as RWD only. And as mentioned earlier, it is probably easier (and worth it) to get a whole engine.

Check FC Marketplace for junkyards ran by Pakistani workers. Plenty of used parts from scrapped cars. I bought all my parts from them. Most operated near oil palm estates in Puncak Alam, Kapar and etc.

Bro, find half-cut. Perodua cars = Daihatsu. Just need to know what engine code and go ask different half-cut shop.

If come to worse, ask welding shop if possible to weld & CNC machine back (if want a clean/smooth surface). Usually this is the last straw when parts really cannot find or too expensive.
