Maybank: DuitNow Transfer and DuitNow QR services temporarily unavailable (Nov 25)

PETALING JAYA: Banks like Maybank and CIMB have urged customers facing issues with DuitNow transactions today (Nov 25) to try other alternatives.

"DuitNow Transfer and DuitNow QR services to other banks are temporarily unavailable on the MAE app, M2U web and M2U Biz (web and app)," Maybank said in an announcement on Facebook.

It added that DuitNow Transfer and DuitNow QR from other banks to Maybank are also temporarily unavailable.

Users are urged to use IBG or Interbank Giro to perform bank transfers. The crediting schedule is available on its website.

"You can continue to make transfers and QR payments from your Maybank account to other Maybank accounts. Other services on MAE, M2U web and M2U Biz are working as normal," it added.

While its systems are operating as usual, CIMB Malaysia in a reply to a user on X said "some banks are experiencing issues on their end", adding that it may impact some user experience while performing DuitNow transactions or Instant Transfers.

"In the meantime, you may proceed with your transaction via Normal Transfer (IBG)," it added.

On the Touch 'n Go eWallet app, an alert appeared to inform users that it is currently experiencing intermittent issues with some QR payment partners due to third-party maintenance: "The issue will be resolved soon. Please try again later."

Frustrated users have taken to social media to voice their complaints about failed DuitNow transactions, citing embarrassment when they couldn’t perform payment at the cashier and some also voiced their concerns over seeing deducted funds but no confirmation about transfer.

LifestyleTech has reached out to DuitNow operator PayNet for more information.

Muahahaha!

Online payment konon.

Cash still the best. Luckily I kept min 3-4k at home for emergencies. Only issue with cash is some places no longer accept them like Starbucks, Coffee Bean and etc. Good also, less potong kaki drinks.
