Five men and 60 women, aged 17 to 64, have been arrested over a vice ring that saw Japanese sex workers and porn stars allegedly recruited to engage in prostitution in Hong Kong.
This operation was conducted in collaboration with law enforcement agencies from Singapore, Macau and Japan.
Sources said 24-year-old Miru Sakamichi and Mamiya Wakana are among the three well-known Japanese porn stars implicated in the case. Miru held a fan meeting in Hong Kong in September.
Chief inspector Tang Hoi-tung of the organized crime and triad bureau said these pornstars could charge up to HK$150,000 per session, with the ring reportedly generated interest by posting adult video covers and information about the porn stars online.
According to Tang, the group recruited Japanese women through social media platforms popular in their country.
After receiving bookings and deposits, they arranged meeting times and directed clients to hotel rooms.
Sex workers would collect the fees in cash, with group members taking half.
Tang also said seven core members were arrested, including a 37-year-old female mastermind.
Two core members face charges of laundering HK$19 million in criminal proceeds.
Sakamichi, who came on the scene in Japan in 2018, was named best new adult film actress in 2019 and regarded as the successor to Yua Mikami.
Her fan meeting here in September included a party on a yacht.
Mamiya Wakana, born in 1998, debuted in 2021 under the name Nishimura Ayaka.
She deleted her social media accounts after her last film release in October 2022.
