No. You cannot use. Need international permit. Same as we Europeans cannot use our license in Malaysia. We also need a permit.

I've driven multiple times in the UK without an IDP (Only avis needs an idp for rental for non eu driving licenses). I have taken that same car and driven it into france and ireland, all without an idp. i have also driven in norway, sweden and denmark without an idp, with a car that was rented in the oslo airport. likewise, my norweigian, greek , australian and british friends and family have rented cars and driven here without an idp or permit of any kind. the only issue we had was my brother with an australian license tried to drive into thailand, and was told that only malaysian drivers are allowed to drive there. his malaysian license was expired, so he had to switch drivers with my dad. as long as its a holiday it should be fine, long term you will need to get their actual license |

Driving is about skill.
You're not dealing with authorities. No need to fuss about license/permit. |

No IDP required, they accepted our license as they can understand what's written on it.Just be extra careful when driving there as RHD and LHD can be confusing when u drive. Some countries need IDP some don't.
During the car rental pickup they won't ask to see IDP, but if police stop you then they might ask for one if they country requires it. So to be safe, spend the RM150 and get IDP for a peace of mind. |

English speaking country can since our license now got english translation.
That was the reason previous government did that. IDP doesn't replace your license. It is just a translation. You still need your original license. Not e-card. QUOTE 2) Driving license: In order to drive in Austria with a non EU/EEA driving license, an international drivers permit (IDP) is required. https://www.bmeia.gv.at/en/austrian-embassy...20is%20required. Rather than worry about IDP better if u study different toll system and driving rules of each country if u plan to drive cross border.
Some require vignette some use toll system like Msia some no toll at all.. Pre 2020 the use of dashcam were heavily regulated in country like Swiss & Austria due to their over emphasize on privacy law, but now I heard they relaxed it a bit. I dunnolah, you gonna spend few k for plane tickets, hotels, makan and car rental. BUT, refuse to spend 100/150 ringgit for a piece of mind. Cannot brain the logic. Like someone said, its like buying insurance, and its actually cheaper than a proper travel insurance. Just get it lah.

it is advisable to have IDP on hand, just pay RM150 and passport size photo will do, any UTC JPJ or JPJ branch is able to do it within 15mins.
