noob question guys. Could u help to share what are some vehicles (models?) that use B7 diesel (RM3.15/litre) predominantly? do all diesel vehicles like trucks/lorries which are taking B10 (RM2.95/litre), be better off taking b7?

just like we prefer ron 97over ron 95 if cost is not a concern? I understand b7 is more powerful than b10 (which the latter has more bio content hence less powerful).

for diesel car/vehicle owners, how often do u fuel B7 over B10? depends on wallet? sorry for all the noob questions.

Depends on the manufacturer car model, usually those modern diesel engine got stickers near the refuelling area to tell only fill B7 then you can only fill B7. If no call out, just pump any diesel also can. FYI, B7 is 7% bio-diesel mix while B10 is 10% bio-diesel mix with ori diesel.

There is an article from Pault*n why most modern diesel engine only can tolerate 7% max, google about it. Mostly due to maintenance & engine wear concern.

I own a Mazda6 2.2D.

In my 4 years of ownership, I only filled B10 once. ONCE, because no choice, car ran out of fuel & fuel kiosk don't have B7 diesel.

I regret it to this day.

The rest was using B7 diesel, always.

It was never about the cost. It was always due to engine maintenance concerns

thanks bro for sharing.... how many milleage do u get per full tank? what is your tank size?

bro don't mind to share the mindset as diesel owner, is it an important factor comes to branding? Just like the never-ending war between users of different oil co, some prefer S*ell, some says Bh* the cleanest fuel, while some say Calt*x is the best etc2, never ending lol....i mean for RON, the war is never ending, what about diesel world, do u even bother?

About 450km ish for 100% city drive. 650km ish for 80% highway, 20% city. This is about 55 liters of fuel (I always refuel when amber light comes out)

Mileage is bad because my driving habits is far from frugal.

Mostly I refuel with Petronas because it is convenient & also the reward point system is well implemented.

recent bmws and merc run b7 (its a specified minimum requirement on the fuel cap)

diesel is still not that expensive imo.
on the e90
- full long distance one tank 50-55L i can still get about 1300km
- town driving, its less pretty, 50-55L i can only get about 850km

X1 (same engine, heavier + awd)
- mixed driving lots of jams, some smooth highway trips, 50-55L 800km

Diesel world it is call cetane, for our country the certane if not mistaken is quite high around 50~60 (Others mostly around 40~50) but lack in cleaniness (Max Euro 5 while others already Euro 6)

You need to test the diesel b7 between different station to suit your ride and perference. For me Petronas B7, BHP B7 score the top 2 choice, while Shell is the lowest in term of performance. But Shell got 1 advantage is the exhaust smell is not that worse for my ride, i suspect they mix some perfume or formulation to reduce the diesell smell. laugh.gif

I mix both, depending on availability and pocket since not all petrol station carry b7. But usually for long trip will go for b7.

2.0 diesel citroen, as far as i know peugeot/citroen never recommend anything specific for their diesel car, and b10 is on approval list.

Mostly on petronas, but because of setel app. No particular preferences.

9 years old car, and the dpf system still good, but removed it due to adblue remap. EGR is quite dirty, but disabled it.

Drove, Ford Ranger Biturbo.. using B7 if ever available (klang valley not that hard to find). But sometimes when drive to kampong area or those balak dirt road on the way to orang asli settlement, no B7 then no choice but B10. Good thing about the Thai built Diesel engine is the ability to take our dirtiest diesel grade, compare to my previous Ssangyong which is very sensitive when forced to drink Euro 2M diesel.

Full 100% city driving, can get around 450 to 500 Km per 60L of diesel (2++ Tonnage car weight with A/T Tires maa)
Outstation around 700 to 800 km for 70L of Diesel.

Best diesel fuel in MY: Bhp or Caltex B7 then Petronas B10 (because the station is everywhere).

Best diesel overall is PTT Thailand B7.

Currently operating 3 diesel vehicles.

Q7 3.0, Starex 2.5, Dmax 3.0

For local city driving, just use b10. Highway driving I will fill up with b7 if available. So far no issues.

Driving the latest ford ranger T9 and using B10. Max per tank can go up to around 1k km mixed of highway/city drive. Pure city drive can last around 8xx km per full tank. That aside, on the fuel cap stated max acceptance of diesel grade is B20.
