Recently, my water bill unexpectedly increased from the usual RM10 per month to RM30 per month, despite no changes in my water usage.

This makes me suspect there might be a leak in one of the water pipes in the house. I searched the entire house for water marks but couldn’t find any visible signs of leakage.

As a temporary measure, I’ve been turning off the main water valve when leaving for work during the day and turning it back on when I return home. However, I’ve noticed that when I turn the water back on, the kitchen tap releases a lot of air before the water flows normally.

Could this indicate a leak in the incoming water pipe buried underground? What’s the best way to detect and pinpoint the location for repairs?

Thanks in advance.

Have to use those service that uses the sound detector (saw a few on IG). Some people just gave up and reroute ugly pipes over surface. Usually the leak is tiny but the water is substantial over a month.

Looks like you have leak. The easiest way is to closed all water taps and make sure the water tank is full. If the meter is still running, then for sure there is leak. smile.gif

happen to mine.
no water leak can be found either at tank, wall or floor.
my bill this year can cover like 8-9 years of water bill.

go for external piping to ensure no more leakage.
i need to wait december bill to see the changes to normal.

Happened to my house many years back. Malas wanna detect where it leaked underground, so just ask the plumber to connect a new paip from the meter all the way inside my kitchen and up to the tangki. Problem solved. But the cons is that now the paip is visible to naked eye

tq all. decided to call a plumber to do a new pipe externally. Gave up to find the source of leaking.

Any good plumber to introduce?
