Hi guys, please tell me what to do.

Last Tuesday, one of Coway sales representatives contacted me asking me whether I’m interested in their new product since mine is about to expire next year. They sent me their Coway ID and all and i checked their profile through Coway CS that I called, they’re legit.

Then after the paperwork and all, one of the Coway branch ws me telling me to check the details and all and as per request, they told me to take a picture of me holding my IC.

This is what I’m scared of.

What If its not the real Coway and the photo of my me holding my IC be circulating all over scammers and all? What if my name got black listed. Im a freshie, still finding a job.

The only reason i decided to be ok with coway becoz the prev owner of the water filter is my mother, since she passed away last year, im the one had to arrange everything. Im the head of the family now.

Please tell me what to do to prevent me from being black listed and all. Should i make a report to the police? I have also contacted Coway regarding this matter.

Just cancel coway. Boil water use kettle only.

If its legit (i really hope it is) im ok with it. But if its the other way round wait till contract ends, wont be using this kind of subscription anymore which really screws my overthinking-ness

Why the heck would Coway ask you to take a photo of yourself holding your Ic?

Why waste money on Coway? Boil own water or use a microwave to do it.

I sometimes will microwave water for coffee or tea if lazy. Only 3 minutes with a microwave safe cup.

Boiling water over a stove is also easy. Just find a stainless steel kettle. Plenty at household wares shops.

Electric kettle also can but in experience, always kaput.

Their procedure is very unprofessional. This alone you should cancel.

Plus why do people pay installment for water filter... Use a normal Panasonic filter would do. Change own filter every year.

PS I am sorry for your late mother's passing away. May she RIP.

You may want to Google the danger of heating water with microwave oven. Very dangerous wei.

i wanted to say so but i can't imagine got lazy people boil water using microwave.

Sometimes people are not aware of the risk, as the danger of superheating water is not an easily understood concept.

I have just subscribed Coway water filter.
I insisted not to send my photo holding my IC
Then only the office called and did verification thru phone by asking the IC number
So TS no need to send the picture. Insist on this and they will follow your way

just get those 5-600 water dispenser filter with hot water function.
every 6 months just change the filter cartridges.

sorry but coway products to me are for those that cant afford one sump payment.

Coway itself is a scam, overpriced and tied you down for ever. Just buy a off the shelve filter will do, Xiaomi, Midea or panasonic etc, For the filter cartridge of coway you can buy a new unit every few months.

I dont think its a scam coz i also did the same thing when im subscribing to life insurance. They just want to make sure that its really you applying due to online transaction.

As the head of the family. Take the wise decision and cancel this Coway subscription. Understand you may be under xx years of commitment and if you cancel there will be penalties fee.
If your subscription tenure has matured/ended, please don't renew and cancel.
I think the IC verification for new owner is fine, nothing much you can do now. If anything it will be just stealing your identity and subscribe stupid things. A real KYC process is not so easy by sending photo, it will be real time camera and human movement required.

I believe to sign up for Shopee Pay/Wallet, they ask you to do the same.

Hi there! Update. So for the picture of me holding the ic, well its legit. I called Coway CS, the product itself all legit. But my intuitions were correct. The agent itself kaki spin.

But tu lah she got my ic and debit card (i had to block this card)😅😣

As for my IC, does anyone know what can people do with photocopy?

I have cross check with Coway CS, and my current coway technician. Thank god for them.

And also glad that i believe my instinct to double check.

A bit scared what if i report her to the upper management, and then later she santau me using my ic and all (i know im sounding ridiculous, but things can happen)

Even my coway technician told me to cancel first the upcoming new subscription.

People who follow the Coway scheme is just they do not want to bother to do maintenance, but the maintenance is easy DIY. For Coway, it means constant flow of fix monthly income. No need to rely too much on new sales

Why don’t you contact Coway and ask about a renewal instead?

That was my plan. Turns out the agent register me as the new owner (bukan pindah milik). And I just contact them just now. They told me to i have to cancel with the agent itself. But if the agent refuse to do so, I could give them a call back and will help with reporting to the higher ups.

I am the one always heat water using microwave.

Are you using those OEM filter from Korea that has halal and sirim?

I'm going to buy one because my contract with Cuckoo going to end but when I email Sirim if it's legit, they told me they were tested but it doesn't comply with several standards.

Filtration also need to have halal certification now?
