Hi I wanna buy sooka stick just for the 4k epl content.

I read that some people got the web version but face lagging issue during watching big matches (eg Liverpool vs Man Utd).

Anyone bought the stick and watch the 4k football content? I'm OK with the 1-2 mins delay but definitely not ok with lag since I paid for the service.

Thanks~!

I wish to know how's the tv stick experiences too. Any user here?
The stick itself supports 4K but I doubt the stream is in 4k as the premium subs without the stick is only in 1080P.

I just spoke with Sooka support on Facebook; they said that as long as we use the TV stick to stream content, we can access the Sports UHD channel. Well at least the bottom line is it's not 1080p...

So looking back to the tv stick plan, literally there's only one option tbh, which is the RM499 plan - included one year premium plan (before SST)... if you buy the stick only, it cost RM349 (before SST), so the monthly premium subscription is RM50.10 (after SST). two months then it's already RM100.20...

relek everyone. The stick hasn't reached my house yet, and all the other "VIP" channels are basically "discounted" Astro channels lol, resolution wise they're all 1080p on web and phone.

Anyway, epl starts next week. see you again.

I'm using it for 1 month already. So far, I'm satisfy with the stream quality. btw, i only stream it on my 1440p monitor.

But recently i experienced that there is a bug for the stick. At the home screen, it keep on refreshing the page until you can't select any content.

OK I have tried this weekend. First week watching Man Utd match.

Yea for UHD channel there's only one - Astro Sport UHD. It has all other Astro Sports channels in 1080p. I'm not sure if there's a time where we have two huge matches like Liverpool vs Man Utd, and Chelsea vs Arsenal at the same time. Probably they will unlock one extra UHD channel... I don't know... but compared to the local fanbase size, probably they won't have the Chelsea vs Arsenal if that happens lol...

My TV supports the 4K selection: 2160p, out of 1080p and 720p. All extended after-match highlights are available only in max 1080p. I think also got full matches replays. (correct me if I were wrong)

The UHD streaming is smooth. Using Time broadband 600mbps plan, 200mbps also still have plenty of room for 4k streaming.

However, 2 mins slower compared the real match time, which I don't like about it. It's frustrating if there's a big match at late night, you hear the crowd yelling outside, then only you watch the team scores after 2 mins...

Worth it or not? RM50/month for UHD 2-mins late live. I guess it's acceptable but not satisfied. Plus my gf can watch HK drama.

Also, this is just me hating to plugin external power supply to the small TV stick, as it is only providing 5V/1A... in 2024 TV should have USB-C input with thunderbolt protocol that can provide power to the external connected device... and it doesn't require external power input anymore... probably need to wait for another 5-8 years to get it popularized...

Value: 6.5/10 (that 2-mins delay potong steam)

Would just like to comment
Most "high end" PC Monitors do have USB C DisplayPorts with USB PD for charging connected laptops

Alas, don't think any TVs have that yet

And for most TVs the USB Port built in is limited in power unfortunately
So yeah, external brick is the only way for now.

On browser the delay is not that bad as there's a Live red button which shows you watching "live". I know this is not a real live but I think the delay is not as bad as 2 minutes. I'm sure about that coz there's time when there's a goal those friends in my chat group with Astro saw it around same time. If the stick is streaming with 2 minutes delay then really potong steam. Perhaps you can try the none UHD channel see how much the stream is delayed. If stil same I rather just get the package without stick.

If you want to buy the TV stick for UHD EPL matches, DO NOT BUY the TV Stick. It's NOT WORTH IT. Only selectable matches will be avaialble in UHD channel. So far I only able to watch few Utd matches in UHD in 3 months...

Unfortunately, 4K streaming (via Astro Sports UHD & selected VOD) is exclusively on sooka TV Stick device.

Regular Premium Plan users without sooka TV Stick are still getting up to 1080p streaming for Live TV & VOD. Which means, you’re not getting 4K on other supported streaming devices.

One other flaw, it’s not a Netflix-certified device.

Only RM349, free 1-month Premium Plan. Astro Sports UHD is EXCLUSIVELY on the Sooka TV Stick device, nowhere else.

Or get a 12-month Premium Plan for RM499.

Both received three months of free Disney+ Hotstar access. Sooka TV Stick is NOT a Netflix-certified device yet.

Sooka’s RM25 special price is for Maxis & Hotlink customers only. Pretty sure will be renewed every month with that same price.

But no Astro Sports UHD channel & 4K VOD content — it’s only viewable on Sooka TV Stick device. Regular Premium Plan without Sooka TV Stick is still limited to FHD 1080p.

Astro GO supports 1080p streaming only if you have a Multiroom Smart TV subscription. For mobile and web, the maximum quality is 720p — likely due to bandwidth limitations Astro manages for its large pay-TV user base.

If you’re satisfied with Sooka, go for it. If you’re a Maxis or Hotlink customer, a special RM25 price for Premium Plan awaits.

How is the Sooka premium quality on web browser for sports? Will it be able to get 1080p stable?
I am currently using Super streamer pass at rm15/month. HD quality but acceptable and low price.

Remember that it's not in full HD 1080p as you're enjoying Super Streamer Pass. You need to upgrade to the Premium Plan for only RM25 per month.

It solely depends on your internet speed, though. But in my experience, it has been smooth most of the time, during non-peak usage.

Yes—you can. It should work seamlessly if you’re switching to Maxis special price of the Sooka Premium Plan.

Bear in mind that while Premium Plan supports 4K streaming, both Astro Sports UHD and 4K VOD content are accessible only on the Sooka TV Stick.

Too bad, I'm still under Astro contract next year's Oct. Long long way to go. Otherwise, I would really love to make a switch to Sooka.

You were so close to switching to Sooka. What makes you stay with Astro?

In addition, the sooka TV Stick (normally priced at RM349) is available for free with the purchase of a six-month sooka Premium plan at RM249. A special Buy 1 Free 1 deal on the annual pass is also available on sooka.my, giving users two years of access starting from just RM149.

Y'know what? I'm also seriously considering the Sooka Premium plan as my next migration, but that only happens after my June 2027 contract with Astro ends. sad.gif

All my fixes are there, especially Astro Originals & live sports.

If I understand it correctly, you need the stick for 4k.

I used the Sooka app on my Samsung TV, 1080p only.

But I recalled reading something somewhere (I cannot verify) that the 4k streaming via the stick is only for certain "channels" only. So if that night there are several EPL games showing, only 1 or 2 certain games will be available for 4k streaming, the rest are still 1080p. So it depends on your luck if your team is the big game for the night or not. And this is the sticking point why I am reluctant to get the "stick."

No such thing for sooka (unlike Netflix).

However, streaming is limited to one TV device at a time, plus up to two mobile devices (such as phone, tablet, or web browser) simultaneously.

The Sooka stick is the only way to watch Sooka with 4k.

But 4k is limited to certain channel only, not all.

Macam for live football, only the game showing on Astro Grandstand channel has 4k. Other games on SuperSport 1,2,3, etc won't have 4k.

But to be fair 1080p for live football even on my 75" 4k TV is not bad.

But if they try to get us to buy the Sooka stick by enabling 4k for every channel, I would buy it.

Does anyone have any problem with the sooka stick after update whereby is has difficulty switching channels or even watching on the sooka app on sooka stick.
However, there is no such problem on other apps such as youtube, Disney or other streaming apps.

sooka Live TV Update

As of today, the free Infamous TV channel is no longer available.

For sooka Premium customers without a sooka TV Stick — you can now stream two UHD channels, Astro Sports UHD and Love Nature 4K, directly on your own compatible TV streaming devices (including Android/Google TV’s certified TV sets and streaming boxes). The sooka TV Stick is no longer required to enjoy these live 4K channels.

I have just subscribed to Sooka premium account (without tv stick). Can confirm Astro Sports UHD and Love Nature 4K works on my Sony 75” X90L tv. The image quality is superb and crystal clear! Can’t wait to watch Liverpool vs Arsenal in 4K tonight!

Yes you can.

Navigate to your desired channel(s) and press the love icon to mark them as favorites. These channels will be displayed on the Home tab > My List row.

Just a heads-up: you can only watch Astro Sports UHD, Love Nature 4K, and 4K UHD VOD on the sooka Smart TV app.

Or, if you already have smart TV, just download sooka right away. 4K content is officially available to all sooka Premium subscribers without sooka TV Stick.

No need to buy a separate sooka TV Stick, it doesn’t support Netflix.
