I am going for a cvt service and after buying the cvt fluid from sparepartshop at ctauto i checked the cvt bolt the next day on my vellfire(anh20) and it states TC fluid. during purchase he asked me to take a picture of the vin plate after i asked if the fluid is right and everything checks out. My vellfire is 2012 but plugging in my scan tool during dignosis states 2011 manufacture date. The car cert states 2012. So isit ok to use FE fluid instead of TC?

Any transmission cannot simply mix different type of oil unless the aftermarket oil you put got list it got support both type. If only 1 type, better dont take risk as transmission failure will cost thosands to fix.

not aftermarket. Toyota cvt oil. There are 2 types FE and TC.

Because the gearbox internal already wear out and suit with the new oil, this is what happen to my old car gearbox.
My bad experience, some mechanic told me Dextron-III gearbox can use Dextron-IV oil, in the end my gearbox slip (i drive almost 20k until next gear oil change when this happen) even when i change back to the correct oil it is too late. When open the gearbox to repair the internal clutch plates burn out and got bad smell (due to uncompatible oil). Thus why i always tell people to use the original spec. oil.

ok i will try to go back and ask for an exchange from sparepartshop.
