Tried playing Windows games through Whisky and Heroic. So far tried CS2, it wasn't smooth. but haven't tried setting it for smooth gameplay. Will try more.

Also played rocket league. Smooth at 1080 High quality mode. Very satisfied so far.Will try more games later. If not using external 1TB. This won't be possible as games are so big these days.

Which specs and how much you get from the trade in? Apple offers better price than other platform like carousel or marketplace?

M1-8GB and 256GB RAM. Just RM800, better than nothing as 4 years machine. Prefer apple to avoid 3rd party

Saw a few useful apps suggested but having a hard time when trying to find it back. Maybe can pin it in 1st page for ease of access/search

I think can sell at least 1200? 800 is too low. M1 still a capable machine and I'm sure a lot would see it's a steal for around 1200.

well....i don't want to bother entertaining people and give warranty to people. Less problem & fast complete deal.
plus nowadays all machines min 16GB, the faster u dump the 8GB machine, the better. Starting 2025, the value will drop even more.

Last time I made a mistake on MacBook pro, 1.6k trade-in value, I waited to find buyer. The trade in value dropped to 1k, switch & machine will take it for rm800 after evaluation (small scratch - devalued around rm200). Due to its low value, decided to continue using it however only lasted 4 month & display started to be faulty. Lesson learned, trade in as hw tends to be faulty after 4 years especially SSD which has a TBW lifespan.

Now happy user with traded-in
a) Ipad Air -> Ipad Mini 7
b) M1 Mac mini -> M4 Mac Mini

If you guys see deals on Mac Apps, please do share. There's some I'm waiting for like "Raw Power" (people say this is like old Aperture app), it was on sale during black friday, but I didn't have a Mac to purchase it then.

finally got my custom Mac Mini shipped from ShenZhen China, stranded in DHL KL warehouse for 1 whole day. doh.gif

Set it up in office and actually using it to post this now. Just want to say the text is quite crisp at default resolution with my 34" 1440p ultrawide Dell office monitor. Those HDPI requirement is really just marketing gimmick. sweat.gif

I am using a brand new 4K Samsung M7 32" smart monitor with my mini. Was a bit disappointed with the default scaling that made the text huge and slightly fuzzy. I have been tinkering with the free version of the Betterdisplay app, and today I am finally satisfied with the setting. In fact I am so satisfied that I actually paid for the pro version. Something that others may consider playing around with if they are unhappy with their monitors.
One thing I noticed though, since I am not using the MacOS default scaling, the CPU is warmer than when I am using the default setting. More CPU workload I am guessing.
At the end of the day, is it as good as the Apple display? Of course not. That would be an unrealistic comparison seeing the price difference.

I think almost all Apple products for SEA is made in China. I increase storage to 512Gb and add 10Gbps ethernet.

Just tested the new 5 Gigabit ethernet adapter I got but on my windows machine. Link: https://www.lazada.com.my/products/i4258248...4071007294.html

I'll post more pictures tomorrow on the adapter, for now here's just a simple test i did on my windows machine, and the system will detect the adapter (for mac there is some installation according to the booklet given).
