Probably not, prefer a more practical sedan like the City.

safety aside
I think this is the best looking car in the segment. alone side S70 and city hatchback. I do read a article that the spec that malaysian have is different from the one they use in the ANCAP test. the one they tested with 'ancap dont have seatbelt pre-tensioners', Our spec have the pre-tensioners. QUOTE He explained that the Australian-market MG5 is a base model that’s CBU imported from China, and the car tested by ANCAP was not equipped with pre-tensioner seatbelts. Malaysia gets the MG5 from Thailand, and the cars are specified with pre-tensioner seatbelts. Also on our car are six airbags and the MG Pilot suite that includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane change assist and rear collision warning. No AEB, though. sos: paultan link cant paste, dont know why This post has been edited by T.Alvin: Oct 29 2024, 02:49 PM |

Why not just send in a unit to test the car again? It's as easy as ABC.If not, people will assume still 0 star and this will for sure damper the sales. Until then, I would only consider MG4. |

QUOTE(lsm1991 @ Oct 30 2024, 10:59 AM) to be fair to the naysayers, the side impact results are not promising, with or without pretensioners Are there any exactly same side impact test video on honda city and Toyota vios? danielcmugen liked this post

People seem to forgot that toyota and daihatsu got safety scandal issues too. Their car ANCAP rating suposed to be lower than what they claim to be. If TS really like this car, i suggest take it for a test drive and try to ketuk2 the body whtr it feel solid or like tin milo. After all there r still lot of people driving on the road with their older car which probably failed this modern ANCAP safety testing too. Bezza and axia safety feature also not as good as saga and itiz but still become national bestseller. Different people has different needs Quazacolt liked this post

QUOTE(moto-moto @ Oct 30 2024, 01:48 PM) If City/Vios also get similar result, then acceptable lah . This MG5 really the most beautiful car in and out at this price. Back then went to MG showroom at Thailand to see this car before, already fell in love with it and hoping it would land in Malaysia. 1.5NA i can accept, but this 0 star is a deal breaker for now. |

MG can just re-test with Asian NCAP to clear any doubts on safety.
But why won't they? |
