Hi there,

I'm looking to buy and air purifier for a small room, about 160 sq ft that can eliminate smoke odour. Im converting my office room in my house into library/cigar room, but at the same time I dont want the smoke smell to linger around in room as sometime I have guest that I would like to bring to show my book collection, and drink some fine whisky.

Im bought Acson Air Purifier ADP10A, but it doesn't do the job of getting rid of the cigarette/cigar smell. Im looking to buy Levoit Core 300S with toxin absorber to filter the smell, but I need to make sure it works because the price is steep.

Any ktards have any other recommendation?

More like a user problem . Change filter and when u plan to smoke turn the air purifier to max speed or 75% .

The smell isn't just from the air, it gets onto everything in the room. An air purifier isn't going to remove that smell from the room.

Also, any air purifier that can absorb the smell also will not last long. Probably 1-2 times clean your room and the carbon filters will be full already and you have to buy new one.

You can't escape physics and chemistry

I think a ventilation fan will work better than an air purifier in this situation tho

I understand. I try to minimize any fabric in the room that may retain the smell, I even take out and clean the ash tray whenever I'm done with smoking session, but the smell is still there in the morning.

It may, but the room is air conditioned, so ventilation fan may be a problem to install and run.

Even hard surfaces can absorb smell. Still need to manually clean/wipe often to prevent smell from setting in.

Ventilation is the better solution. Yes it will reduce your air cond efficiency, but it will reduce the amount of smoke your aircond and purifier have to handle. Don't forget that the smoke also gets into your aircond.

If possible, set up your room such that you have a spot for smoking that is closest to an exhaust ventilation. Then set the air purifier to be at a spot away from it to catch any stray smoke and blow clean air up to the aircond to use.

Buy any air purifier that has ionizer, like Sharp Plasmacluster or Panasonic nano x + HEPA filter.

My whole house uses Sharp Plasmacluster. It is a huge difference inside and outside.

You may need the air purifier with the regulated low level ozone generator.

Ozone (O3) is reactive and can oxidized all the volatile organic compound (VOC) residual from the tabbaco. The danger of the O3, if not regulated , it is carcinogenic agent.

Since both tabacco & O3 can cause cancer, opt for ozone generator. The hotel room cleaning are using the ozone generator to get rid of the smell.

My maid manually clean the room everyday. But the smell still lingers. I love to smoke cigar, but I hated the after smell.

If want easy pakai humidifier + water with chlorine tablets. This will get rid of any bad smell ( even pee ) . Need to make sure the room is airtight no air flow , when u want to use it just air it out like 3-4 min will do . U do not want to breath in the clorine gas for health reasons

Buy any filter that HEPA.
Buy levoit during 11.11 sales.
You can get sharp also then just buy OEM filter and replace. Pay more now but pay lesser with time as you are buying OEM filte.

The best configuration would be a good ventilation to the outdoor and ON the air purifier. Although the filter able to trap some of the smoke particles, it will stay there at the filter and bot being destroyed even if you used the highest H13 grade if your main intention is to get rid of the smell. All those smoke particles will also stick to some of the plastic at the air path which the moment you turn on the air purifier, the air will carry the smell.

You can confirm what Im saying by going to the Changi smoking room where they put the Dyson air purifier. The smell is there in room but only the particles been filtered.
Please put an exhaust system in the room for you purpose.
