Scammer Alert in email send by legit @curtin.edu.my to my inbox at gmail raise my concern and awareness to suspect it might be a spoof where it asked me to use forget password instead of login new.
Then they faked a pdf in the attachment just like the original admission of curtin university.
As I googled, original email should be admission@curtin.edu.my and fake one is admission.center@curtin.edu.my, however it is seriously hard to differentiate if being careless just a little bit.



Just to spread the words of fellow students who are applying for university, please be extra caution with every email that was sent to you. Some are legit, some are not.

Doesnt look fake to me. In the email content, it does say contact them at "admissions@curtin.edu.my"

well, it didn't provide questionable links to click, and didn't ask to submit any sensitive info, so not sure why it is declared fake...

doesn't look scammy at all to me.

i am not surprised either that "forgotten password" is used.

i've seen bunch of website with incompetent programmers ended up using this method to complete account registration.

the best way is to give a call to verify the email especially if you are waiting status from curtin itself.

well official admissions@curtin.edu.my is right but admission.centre@curtin.edu.my is fake.

I have got this email sent from a fake email address but he did copy the content as correctly as the real one.

Attached PDF is a forged application on date 20/10/2024 stated that my application to the university is processing which I did not apply at all this year.

could be alternate address from them.

example dell staff can receive aa.bb@ dell.com and also aa_bb@ dell.com

to get your personal info only if you submit the form?

Perhaps, one day I will get at least 3 bank calls which appear to be personal numbers

some email addresses exist but we don't know... it's their back end processing method...

Curtin apologies to me and said that it was an error technically since I didn't apply.
But they did not mention that whether they are spoofed and whether that email is a valid address.

I am not tech expert but I did not apply for Curtin these 2 years.
