confirmed tarita sell tz15 for RM1235 body + 4gb card + hardcase + lcd sp. just bought one and now charging the battery. i also add a crystal len filter protector for RM100 bcos Julia, the sales person said it will protect the 10x len from scratches, fungus, finger prints, mildew etc. i think this is the one komader67 said manyak mahal. betul tak komander67?

guys, any idea what is the market price for ori battery? tarita quote RM180/pcs. Or just buy a compatible battery ok liao at RM95/pcs? pls advise.

tqvm

depend on whether you rec in HD or SD, also you brand of mem card. some cards take some space for their fw, so the actual rec time is lesser than what is stated.

I don't think this price is special for me since I was also given the guide by komander67 (credit to you sir!). Maybe with your bargaining skill, you can even get cheaper than us. G'luck!

On the crystal lens filter protector, it really depend on you. I kena poisoned caused i kinda of worry that my kids itchy hand want to touch the len. you know la..kids want to explore mah...also, it is also to prevent mildew, dust, fungus etc from getting into the lens. some peace of mind la... cos you never know what'll happen.

Julia, the sales lady told me that a guy who bought this cam a day earlier than me actually bringing it into the jungle for a exploration trip. hence he need to protect the len from moisture. (showed me the receipt too. lagi poison bcos got bukti cukup!) aiya, i thots for protection what is RM100 since we also bought it at a reasonable price. our frens at dslr group also buy filter to protect their lenses mah. so, same principle apply here lor.

anyway, g'luck to you! I enjoyed snapping with this camera cos no need to think. Strange...since i also interested in canon 450d as it needs some creative thinking in future.  hmm.gif

i went to tarita sg wang and managed to get the TZ15 for RM1245 (had to pay cash).
i couldn't push it any lower even though i tekan like crazy. the fella's face also fed up already....

but i got the body + screen protector + 4GB toshiba memory stick + lumix soft case
camera comes with 2 year warranty by panasonic malaysia.

did i get too bad a deal?

i will only know whether the camera itself is good once i let my wife open it... it's her birthday present and her birthday isn't till this weekend... heheh....

Added on May 22, 2008, 6:11 pmwait... i'm quite confused... the panasonic package says lumix soft case. but when i refer to the price tag, it says there hard case. so which did i get? the soft or the hard?

my case is the blue coloured one with black flap. it certainly doesn't feel like a soft case if you ask me...

and i got the toshiba memory stick instead of the sandisk because the toshiba is made is japan whereas the sandisk is made in china... did i make the right decision?

I finally got my TZ5....quite nice taking picture with it. But i usually use the normal mode rather then the IA mode coz normal mode gives u more function to use and choose.

Regardless about the memory card, it really doesn't matter which brand u take...as long as u feel its branded then its good enough and its under class 6.
*
i got the toshiba SDHC memory card... and i checked it out.. it's got 5 years warranty, but it's under class 4, not under class 6.
how?

panasonic 4GB/2GB SDHC is also class 4 unless you buy panasonic 8GB SDHC then only is class 6.
*
i'm using Toshiba memory stick. and the reason i ask is because i saw this post and after i bought i realised mine is only class 4, so i'm not sure whether i've made a good deal or not:

QUOTE(lordwood @ May 19 2008, 04:32 PM)
all SD memory card with SDHC uses class 6 already. It is implemented for higher capacity cards eg 4GB or higher. f you want faster read / write speed and durability (extreme temperature), you want to consider Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III or IV. Got more $$$ to throw, then the Ducati version. I personally feel for Panny TZ15, no need to go so high first, unless you want to future use it for DSLR. Then can exchange card lor..

Actually not all SDHC is under 'class 6', there are also 'class 2' SDHC, so make sure you check 1st. 'Class 6' will have a better read and write speed compare to the lower class. So when taking pictures, if u c a slower loading when you are on you camera once you take a picture n proceed to take another picture...even when viewing pictures there a slight difference.

Quoted from 'wikipedia' (credit to wikipedia).
SDHC cards have SD Speed Class Ratings defined by the SD Association. The SD Speed Class Ratings specify the following minimum write speeds based on "the best fragmented state where no memory unit is occupied"

    * Class 2: 2 MB/s
    * Class 4: 4 MB/s
    * Class 6: 6 MB/s

Hope it help you lostasylum.

Added on May 27, 2008, 4:22 pmAnyway...i got myself a UV crystal lens protection filter for my TZ15. Exactly the same as lordwood's.

hi guys... thanks to this thread, i bought a TZ15. however, i wanna ask... how much will a spare battery cost (approximate) and where is the best place to buy?

secondly, i've been looking for lens protector for the TZ15, but the camera shops all don't seem to know what i'm talking about (partly cause i also never see before). what does it look like and how much does it usually cost?

thanks!

Recently I asked around for the price of spare batts for FX33.
The price was around RM200 (ori).
So better prepare more than that since your TZ15 is a newer model.

Welcome to the Lumix family  rclxms.gif

*choke*..... more than RM200?? wah lau... mampos... hahahaha...

but what about the lens protector? you know anything the price and what it looks like?
even better, you know which shop has it?

personally, ill go with the camera with manual modes. can tweak around the shutter and aperture =]

i'd agree with that cause my lumix although it's 10x zoom, i can't have full control over the settings so sometimes quite boh song.. hahahah...

compatible batteries are always possible to use. one thing to take into account is it made by reputable companies. For example, some batteries made from companies such as Valomax are not bad as they are making spare batteries for a living. Some even comes with warranties as well. Compatibles batteries will cost around 59-79 retail which originals are around  180.  smile.gif

where can I get compatible batteries for the lumix DMC-TZ15 (good price i mean)?
also, the cost you quoted above, is it generally the same price range for all lumix models?

I have bought 2 units of batteries for the TZ15 on 2 separate occasions at Changi Terminal 2 Tax Free shop. It cost SGD25 and the brand is i-Discovery. It is a Li-ion battery with 1150mAh capacity and compatible with the original S007E used by the TZ15. First unit used over a year already, no problem. Got another one recently.

thanks man! that's really helpful.. at least i can compare prices first before buying.
i'll try to look for the same brand that you've used and see whether i can get it here in KL or not...

hey everyone.. i thought i'd share some good news...
i've been hunting around for a place that sells good batteries (compatible, not ori) and i've not gotten much help in this area even from this forum....

so anyway, managed to get my batt from digital mall (one of the stalls in the middle one) for RM90 for my lumix DMC-TZ15...

been using it for about a month, and it works like a charm. some more the battery got 1 year warranty.... thought this info may be helpful to some...

glad to know that the information was useful for someone else cause i know i was really frustrated when i was looking for places that sold compatible batteries. and yes, you will definitely need the extra battery if you're going away for holidays. i was away for a 2 week holiday and every day i was out visiting various places and the 2nd battery was priceless.... =)
