Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-LX3 With F2.0 24mm Ultra Wide Angle* LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMICRON Lens

Panasonic has today announced the Lumix DMC-LX3. The camera is aimed at DSLR users who are looking for a compact camera to complement their existing SLR gear. Consequently the LX3 comes with comprehensive manual controls and a fast F2.0-F2.8 24-60mm (35mm equivalent) Leica DC Vario-Summicron lens. Images are captured on a 1/1.63-inch CCD sensor sporting 10.1 million effective pixels. The Lumix DMC-LX3 will be available in the UK from August at £399.99.

the red dot is always there whenever it is on..only 1 red dot..i bought in Kuching, but i'm currently in Sibu.

I need to get a new cam by mid of October.

If the price is really 1.5k~1.6k, I am definitely getting the FZ28 when it arrives!

Panasonic's LX series is similar to Canon's G series am I correct?
I kinda find Canon's G9 a bit ugly really.....

ISO800 is acceptable... 1600 is grainy also.
But 1cm focal length macro photo is quite good.

Hi guys,

Just need some opinions on both the Lumix FZ28 and LX3.
For me, what is important are the manual aperture and shutter speed controls.
Because basically i like to take photos with focus (blur the foreground or background to give the main subject more focus). So aperture and shutter speed controls are essentials.

I know the FZ28 comes with a whopping 18x zoom.
But what good is a 18x zoom?
What are the applications?
Handheld, i think the 18x zoom is basically useless because the amount of handshake makes it impossible to take the shot. With a tripod, then it's another story.

The LX3 on the other hand, boasts a bigger sensor and therefore better photo quality (also better performance at higher ISOs).
But how much "better" will it be compared to the FZ28?
Noticeable with the naked eye?
Is the extra RM200 spent worth it on the LX3 (compared to FZ28)?

I know these are some very noob questions but I am stuck in a dillemma now between the FZ28 and LX3.
If it were u, which one would you buy? 

Hi hi.... I wanted to get FZ 18.... I went around to look for a better price till i went to Panasonic Retail shop to get the price. The owner of the shop told me FZ 28 is launching on August 14th and will be in the market at the price of RM 1499 for a box set. really can't wait.... I almost invested on FZ 18. Lucky me.... I haven't invest on FZ 18.
Dear Manchurr.... How much are you planning to sell off your FZ 18? Or you might wanna get FZ 28... Hahaha..... If you're selling it at a very low price... mayb i might get that ..... LOL.....

ya.... should be teck holdings... Even the star written the retail price of LZ 28 is RM 1499.... i'm really hoping the thing will come out ASAP.... but i'm kinda wondering for the price RM 1499 why not we get Sony Alpha 200 where the price range is about there... DSLR lei.... LOL

I went to look for the shop today after work but the shop was closed!!!!

Anyway, asked FOTOKEM at Dataran Pahlawan and Mahkota Parade.
Both quoted a 1 month waiting period (at least) for the Lumix LX3.
Totally out of my schedule la....
I need it quicker!!!

Lumix LX3 + spare batt (ori) + casing + 4GB SD (high-speed) = RM1880

Which one would you take?
